@Gorilladf

It has DX11 support, to give you an idea. It'll likely be CPU demanding, but the GPU should have a low minimum if graphics are scalable.

@LaughingTarget It's always been turn based, so worst case scenario you have to wait a bit longer when hitting the "Done" button. The one-on-one battles will be more GPU intensive than CPU intensive.

....it also includes the tears of former Firaxis employees in a vial, just for your pleasure.

Sorry but the retail price for Civ V is much too high. I was really looking forward to buying it... but PC game at the price of a console game? They usually are about 10 pounds cheaper here when they release. I hardly ever buy games at full price anyway unless I'm really interested.

@Dark Archon PSN Archonik XBL Dar

This is the special edition, the regular is cheaper.

It should probably be noted that the Civ V special edition has also been available for pre-order on Steam, and also includes behind the scenes videos, the soundtrack, and a bonus civilization (the Babylonians).

I think we are all missing the important question.

Is Spock in it?

Sweet, the soundtrack for Civ 4 got me hooked on minimalist music.

Aw, crud. It's a mech. If there's something I don't want in my Civ it's future era.

Civ is one of those games I would hate for them to screw up the core experience with some bogus future tech.... although I have to admit that it has the potential to be awesome and add a little something once you get to the modern era, which never seemed quite as exciting to me as the early eras.

Easy, stop playing after the year 2050. If it gives a real-time ranking, check it and mark where you stand. If you're in the middle of a war, the war wouldn't have ended anyway. Although, maybe some civs will have the mechs by 1980 and my idea won't work at all.

If I buy the retail Civilization V, will I be getting a code to use on Steam as well, plus all the benefits of the special edition from Steam?

Why are they requiring steam for this I don't need steamworks. I love Valve but sometimes they annoy me.
