Ex-Raven dev Manveer Heir joins Bioware Montreal to work on Mass Effect franchise
13
Manveer Heir isn't just our winner of the coolest name for a game designer ever award, he's also just been hired by BioWare Montreal as a senior level designer for the Mass Effect franchise. Heir stepped down from his lead designer role at Activision-owned Raven Software in mid-June and has been on a mini-hiatus since then, only to announce yesterday -- alongside another big BioWare reveal -- that he would be heading up to Montreal.
Heir ... aired his feelings about the change, tweeting, "I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect series, so to get a chance to join the team and help build an amazing game is such a tremendous privilege." When Twitter followers pestered him for specifics, he declined to offer more details, responding, "I cannot elaborate beyond Mass Effect franchise."
Next up for the franchise is supposedly that "far reaching" Mass Effect ... thing, which has been teased to arrive early next year.

I'm prepared to get down-voted since I know everyone loves Bioware, but I have find a place to say that I'm really not looking forward to ME3 or DA2. I guess this is easy to say now when there has been nearly nothing revealed on either. But, Bioware's copy & paste stories are getting stale. I mean overall Bioware story telling and writing is among the most overrated in the biz. Sorry to say that ME2's sideways plot only helped that accusation. But don't get me wrong, I like their games. I'm just a fan who sees what these games could be so I end up a little disappointed I guess. I'm really intrigued to hear that DA2 will have a new combat mechanic though. I hope it ends up as more of an action rpg akin to Diablo at least in terms of pace, but with a true 3rd person view. Regardless, the pause-and-play system is horrible. Whoever invented it should not be able to procreate. As for ME3, I just hope it ends up being ME1 with the gunplay of ME2. I'd be ecstatic if these things happened.

Sorry about that. A nice rant simply feels good at 9 in the morning.

@Deschain
No one forces you to use pause and play.
You can play it perfectly fine without ever pausing it.

Manveer's is pretty cool, but I think the award for coolest developer name goes to Feargus Urquhart.
