Don't worry about how Vimeo user Surfap filmed a Super Mario Bros. speedrun done entirely in graffiti. The description says it was "black magic" and that's good enough for us. As Tiny Cartridge points out, a computer was probably involved, but where's the fun in that? Just enjoy the show.

It's not magic unless Final Countdown is playing.

"The emphasis of my thesis is on the matchmoving work. It is the process of matching CG elements into live-action footage. "
Doesn't say it was all graffiti. In fact, its probably just the wall filed and then the footage put on with CG.

The last time I attempted to use black magic I ended up with seven partially disemboweled squirrels. The strange part was that I was just trying to make tea.

Not to take away from what this guy did (which is pretty incredible) but the only graffiti involved in this was the graffiti that was already on the wall. You can see the level slightly moving left and right as the camera moves, which wouldn't happen if he had actually used graffiti. Plus, sprays can't make such thin lines.
Still, quite an accomplishment.

@Kamizar
I noticed this, but I don't think it's a mistake as much as a design choice. PErhaps he rendered it differently because 1-2 is a full underground level?

I'm pretty sure if the secret or some guide would be reveal on how he did this, a lot of these things would pop up around the internet on youtube or vimeo, etc. A bunch of people video recording a wall or any creative way they could think of and integrate it on their film. Anyway, this is a great film. I have fun watching it and because it's-a-me Mario! :)

I know! All that work to sustain the fire power and then not even keep it. All those precious seconds though...

Puts my personal best of 15 minutes to shame. I always tend to slip up and lose the fire power in 8-4 somewhere along the way.
