Yeah, too bad I've been doing the same thing since Halo on the original XBox...

And that I tried doing it to a friend while we played on the same TV. Hopping out of a Banshee with an Energy sword, and flying down towards a friend with the charge ability, only for him to look at my side of the screen, then shoot a rocket up to stop me, doesn't work out to well...

@JamesHks Even more interesting is the "Showstopper" medal you get for killing someone during an assassination. I guess that's Bungie's way of saying they're fine with assassinations being the equivalent of a giant neon target.

I think it has to do with total points in a Firefight match.

Definitely for Firefight scores. There are 7 Firefight achievements, and 7 green-backed achievements in a row with a similar style, so these are probably one and the same. 5 point-total-based ones, 1 killionaire, and 1 legendary one (probably like endure).

Ah, good call. I have yet to play ODST yet for anything other than the beta so Firefight wasn't on my mind while looking at the images, and I didn't notice the different background for them.

Ahhh... Playing any Halo solo on legendary is one of my favorite gaming moments. It is difficult, but not impossible or frustrating. Every time you get to a new checkpoint after a battle, you get a real sense of accomplishment.

My guesses are the first 4 are beating the game on Normal, Hard, Legendary, and Legendary Solo. The locks are for unlocking armor mods one for any unlock and the other is "Make It Rain." The two insignia next to them are multiplayer ranks to be reached. The 5k so on ones are firefight point counts and the roman numerals are campaign levels.

I've got nothin on the rest, ideas?

the solo legendary one seems like it would help reach's narrative/ story. because you are a weaker spartan, things will be harder, and there is just your A.I. squad to help you. looking forward to tackling that one

Ugh. Multiplayer achievements is why I stopped chasing gamer points. Microsoft said they would never require users to have Gold Xbox Live accounts yet you need one to get a lot of the multiplayer achievements in games. It sucks for people who don't like multiplayer games.

Yeah, I am glad there are only 4 multiplayer specific achievements. I have gone back to playing a little H3 this weekend in an attempt to get some of the multiplayer achievements. I hate the level/map pack specific ones.

I mean seriously, get 2 deaths from the grave on the Orbital level? Lame-o.

@aforty umm why are you complaining, multiplzyerr achivements can be funner to do than campaign achivements sometimes... Also its only 4 stop complaining. Did you know the developers decide what achivements go where anyways, if they want muliplayer achivements they will add multiplayer achivements

On the flipside, it's pretty silly that most people can spend 95% of their time with a game playing the MP and only end up with 0-4 achievements for those hundreds of hours invested.

A good mix of MP and SP achievements is best. If you don't like MP, then it stands to reason that you're not going to get all the achievements in a MP oriented game. It's silly to think otherwise.

Dead thread, I know, but I just wanted to say that I hate MP achievements because they kind of assume that the game is worth playing. So many games go with the "Get 100 kills with Weapon X", etc, and these are unattainable if the game sucks or just isn't worth your time, which many games are. It's the hubris that really rubs me the wrong way about it, and one of the things I liked about IW's approach of no MP achievements. Sometimes I think that the devs know that the achievements are the only thing that'll get some people to play their known sucky MP, and that reeks of lameness.

Bungie said that in Reach, unlike other Halo games, the difficulty will scale based on number of players. So legendary co-op will be harder than legendary solo to account for the extra players.

I'd rather enjoy the camaraderie of overcoming a difficult task with a friend and a six-pack than getting bragging rights for unlocking an achievement that only a few miserable, OCD gamers honestly care about. Games should be fun and enjoyed with others whenever possible, not chores for self-satisfaction.

Having friends = uncompetitive and unskilled? No. It's arrogant people like you, who clearly care far too much about competition to actually enjoy the game, that make me leave my headset in the closet.
