Can't wait to see what answers pop up here, considering this isn't SRK.

@jrr

What's SRK?

Hah! Just kidding. It's the site that went down during the live stream of the grand finals.

@Uncontrol Sadly, this would segregate the player base even more. SSFIV is a great game and I don't feel bad about paying NZ$80 to "upgrade" to it, but I think a paid content patch would be the final straw for me. You would have those that have paid and those that haven't and you would have no online play between the two. (Can you imagine people kicking your ass with extra moves they'd paid for?)

I'm sure the guys at SRK will be all over this, but for the average person I think it's a bridge too far.

pay for a patch, now you have to pay for the stupid mistakes that weren´t fixed in the game, and in order to "hide" this we are going to add a nice slap to the face which is going to be "new" but won´t add anything to the game, but now we have the excuse to charge money for it. Well guess after charging for virtual guns, and people buying them this was the next logical step.

and of course no sign of a p.c. version... now that would be a logical step....

I'd like a dedicated random match up system. Super is better than original SFIV, but I want to go from one match directly to the next. Going back out to a menu screen to confirm I want to look for another match, and then join it is annoying. And don't say "just jump on live" because after I finish a match, it then takes me back and loads the old game and assets only to drop me out to a select screen which then loads the new game assets.

It should be:

online match -> (next opponent/quit? option during end animation) -> next online match

@pmiddy and I don't want to sit in a lobby and watch other ppl fight. I respect that design decision. Some people like it and I applaud Capcom giving it to them. But for me, I want back to back continuous match play with minimal menu or loading screens. The only interstitial I should see is my character select for the next fight.

@pmiddy This would be great and a promote that let's you accept or kick inbetween this ending screen so you won't have to kick back to the lobby. A Short "Waiting for player" syncing and back to the select screen.

I like the lobby mode because 4 of my friends can play but with random people it's kinda eh.

Balancing should always be free.
New character DLC isn't bad and I would pay for it if bundled with new backgrounds would be good also. Add Axel, Karin, Yun and/or Yang, Rainbow Mika, and Dark Ryu.

New moves.. I'm not against but I'm not really paying for Chun Li rising kick or Ken's roll from Alpha.

One a game like this everyone would have to download the DLC but what we will have to pay for an access key. Because if you want new Characters playing them online with people who refuse to pay for them will suck. Like FPS map packs locking out a bunch of the community They should be mandatory to play online but to access you have to pay to play.

Special/super move DLC? You've got to be kidding me.

This is even worse than DLC characters.

I'm all for patches as long as they improve and/or fix the gameplay experience.

The game should have a tutorial mode, that does more than just plant a dummy in front of you and list off button commands. I need something that goes in depth to say how to perform certain moves, what their advantages are, and when/when not to use them.

I still to this day cannot perform Zangief's ultras. Just showing a picture of the buttons is not enough. The game gives no explanation on what the "pour water all over myself" Hakan move actually does. It's annoying to learn a cool counter move, and then test it out in the wild to be surprised with "oh hey, that won't counter this move, or from that angle".

It can't be that hard to put together a script for each character that has you run through their basic and advanced moves, with periodical freeze frames that offer up that kind of information. Hell, I've been playing M&L3 for the past few weeks on DS, and am getting tutorials thrown at me every chapter. If a game as simple as that uses them, SF4 def should have something.

@MLS

Part of Street Fighter is working out advantages / disadvantages of moves and how to apply them. Even the developers themselves don't know all the possibilities of a character and new techniques and tricks are discovered weeks / months after release, so it's hard for them to give you a lot of clear cut advice (especially when it comes to character matchups). Hell if you look through the shoryuken forums you'll find that most of the matchup threads for each character are incomplete because the game hasn't been out long enough.
The trial mode does a good job of teaching a player basic moves plus useful combos that they can use in a match.
Try eventhubs.com, iplaywinner.com and shoryuken.com to find more information that'll help your game.

@MLS It's not water, it's oil. It's changes a bunch of his move properties. Go to SRK forums or youtube to learn more about video games such as SSF4.

@XTRYDER I dont even... Air guard? where did that come from? so nobody can anti-air and you can just jump with no need for safe jumps?

Parry!? you can't just add parry, this would be super advantageous for some characters and devastating for others.

The ultras are selectable, so characters are good for specific situations, Rufus with both ultras would be insane.

Make the new characters better. The jury's not out on all of them but some of them (Makoto and Hakan especially) have serious flaws.

Redraw Blanka. His model is ugly.

I'd like to see them add one thing:

fun

4-hit combo = 20% damage (maybe), yet takes 10 hours in the training room to learn the link timing. Then the timing is thrown out when you are in a real match, especially online, so all that time spent learning the combo was wasted.

Boring...

...to play, that is. It's fun to watch though.

I'd like to see Gouki get useful Ultras, but meh...

In all seriousness, I'd like to see them add one thing: the ability to pass a turn, at will, in a lobby with friends. BlazBlue, and other fighters, have had this, why not SFIV?

Other than that, I doubt there would be any game changing things like new characters or stages, but there really doesn't need to be.

There's no reason that a paid content patch has to segregate the community, any more than the optional paid characters will do so in the upcoming Blazblue title. It's simple:

Non-optional patch that gives everyone the content to play AGAINST. (i.e. allows people to use the new moves/blah/whatever if they face them online), but doesn't allow you to use them yourself unless you pay for it. Done and done. Lay that fear to rest.

Is it a good idea for Capcom to try to charge for an update? Maybe. If it keeps the game fresh and solid and ever improving without us all having to go out and REALLY segregate the community by releasing Super Street Fighter 4 Hyper Spazzing Edition.

And yeah, SolidSnakeEyes, it's entirely possible. Underlying technology. Sometimes it supports what you want to patch in, sometimes it doesn't. And when you release a whole new game, you can, make changes the users don't see to allow future patches. Your internet skepticism does not become you.

Me? I'd like to see a little tuning - a lot of the new characters still need a little nudge - and some UI changes. The aforementioned "rapid matching" for ranked matches would be really cool. So would 'quick continue' (As in, no, don't return me to character select, let's just fight again.) for those of us losers who still play Arcade Mode. No new characters though please. The roster is already large enough that I forget some of the characters exist until someone picks them against me.

Make hakans ultra cancellable

Hakan, improve his slide to avoid fireballs

fix Hakans auto ranging ex slide

Have an option to turn off "easy inputs"

When finishing a match have it go back to its previous menu instead of completely exiting out of the subsystem.
