@Shadow Hog

There is actually! It's a video game ;)

But you're right, there was no year 0 AD, not that you'd notice from the way people behave though. Remember when everyone thought the year 2000 was the start of the new millennium? I lost a little faith in humanity that year.

Looks like Age of Empires I

Even the building architecture looks very similar, but I guess that's a good thing, AoE I was great.

@SpaceFox I love me some AoE1. Too bad I can't find it. Amazon has 1 and 2 for 10 bucks; thinking about getting it...

The time period they're based in is the most interesting epoch of recorded history in my opinion, but I just don't think a standard top down RTS does it justice, compared to some of the incredible Rome Total War mods out there.

Mods like Roma Surrectum are historically accurate to a point that make the original RTW look like a Wii game targeted to kids.

@Shadow Hog

Since BC refers to before Christ was born and AD to after he died, and he was allegedly 30 when he died, what would the years when he was alive be described as? Negative numbers? But really, your lame attempt at a joke doesn't make sense and isn't funny.

Either way, most people in that time period kept time from the year of the founding of Rome.

@Verrier

AD just means "in the time of the lord" or something like that. It doesn't mean after death.

BC means Before Christ, A.D, however, is not After Death, but Ano Dominii, meaning "after the dominant one" or "after the tyrant".

@Shadow Hog I am the interviewee in this article. This is a fake year, we know it did not exist, and it was chosen on purpose. The game was originally planned to span 500 BC to 500 AD. The game shows many different civilizations interacting with each other when each of them is at its prime. In reality they were never at their prime at exactly the same time, nor did each of them really encounter each of the other civs. Hence a fake year - 0 A.D.

Anno Domini means "year of our Lord" not after the tyrant or anything else. CE is the equivalent preferred by those not wishing to refer to a diety
