The saga of the ambiguous price point for Microsoft's Kinect continues today with a new hardware bundle from Walmart. For $199.99, shoppers can pre-order the peripheral itself along with one of the device's launch titles, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One, Dance Central, Joy Ride, Kinectimals, Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures. Shoppers can also grab another game from this list for an additional $60 (or $50 for Harry Potter). The bundle also includes a $30 Walmart eGift Card.
It's worth noting that Walmart's $60 price point for Kinect software and $150 price for the device itself corroborates listings we've seen from other retailers. Of course, Microsoft has yet to confirm any official pricing details for the motion-sensing peripheral -- still, with that free gift card, Walmart's offer seems like the most cost-effective one to date. Unless, of course, Kinect ends up being cheaper than $150, in which case, just tell us the freaking price already.

Seriously. Even at $150, I would much rather put that money towards a 3DS.

Guess they can justify the price by saying you don't need extra controllers to operate. Ironic, though, that it was MS that took more of a nickel-and-dime approach for parts before (with a fair amount of success), who's now trying to offer the all-in-one package. If consumer trends continue as it has, the Move is going to seem significantly cheaper to the casual consumer -- even if prices end up being very similar after purchasing a ton of dongles.

"We ARE talking about the company that had the nerve to price a wifi adapter at $90+"
When will Wal-Mart ever learn the ceiling on the coveted wi-fi adapter market? For shame. They can price the shit outta some green beans though!

you know Microsoft, you cant hide the price forever, your starting to worry us

@chromekreeper If the price is lower than everyone expects, they might be waiting until an opportune time to announce it. Like say, a week before PS Move is released.

Microsoft themselves might make this a bundle with a game for $200 (like the Wii?).

I went to the MS store here in Scottsdale AZ and played the bowling demo. It was pretty cool. The associate that talked to me/made sure I didn't steal it essentially confirmed the $150 price. She said something to the effect of, "we don't know that it'll be $150." (looks around) "but we know it'll be $150"
Maybe they are figuring out if they are going to include a game into the package?

I'm guessing that the Sports game will be bundled in with every Kinect.

They're not even bundling Kinnect Sports (or equivalent) with Kinnect prompting retailers to do it for them?
Oh dear.
Look at the Wii with Wii Sports included Microsoft, that's why it sold like those infamous hotcakes!

Wait, wait. Hold on. Hold up. Hold the phone.
...Kinect games are going to be 60 dollars? Where was I when this was announced? There is no way I'm paying 60 dollars for anything they've shown so far (maybe with the exception of Child of Eden, but you don't need Kinect to play it).
60 dollars is fine for a full length epic game. 60 dollars is not fine for a game as shallow as a kinect title sort of has to be by definition (to begin with anyway)

Even if the price of Kinect ends up officially being $150, the real price for buying it is going to be $200+ because you're going to have to buy a game with it. I don't have $200+ for a gimmicky gaming device.

I dunno, I paid $250 for one of those back in November of 2006.

@Mouthsmasher No no no see the real price is 18,230 Dollars because I had to buy a car to go pick it up and then I needed to put some gas in it. I also needed some clothes because stupid laws won't allow me to walk around naked anymore. Then I needed to add in the Satellite radio because I'm not going to drive there using the basic radio. I mean come on Microsoft. having to pay 18,000+ grand is a little excessive.

im gettin a console bundle when kinect finally comes out, this bundle doesnt have the same appeal as one with a new 360 in it
plus if Kinect wasnt $150 at launch id throw a fit, theres no reason to preorder before an official price is confirmed

Wait, Harry Potter is Kinect-compatible? I didn't realize.
Not that I was particularly interested in it, I still won't be getting this thing, especially at that price.

$100 with a game and It's a day one buy for me.
$150 with a game and it's a maybe buy
$150 with no game and it's a not gonna buy it anytime soon.
