Gears of War 2 XP bonus driven by Twitter

I was addicted to the online once. But then one too many hosts with severe advantages ruined it for me.

It's almost up to 16x XP... crazy. And wonderful.

I'm begging everyone who visits Joystiq. PLEASE follow this man. Even if you need to create a Twitter to do it. Even if you don't play Gears of War.

The thousands that will play this game when this event goes down will appreciate it more than you know.

I wish some other games with online level related achievements would give me this much XP during an event...

Geez, Joystiq. Still complaining about the online issues that only existed for some, not all, players for the first couple months after release almost 2 years ago...and you're still bitter about it?

Nice, level 50 (and a few achievements tied to being lvl 50) is finally a realistic possibility...

I don't think I've every touched Gears 2 multiplayer. I've had an itch to throw it back in my 360 and this looks like as good a reason as any.

I wonder If I can get from 50 to 100 with this... Does anyone know if this lasts for a week or just a weekend?

Well it worked for me. I love the Gears universe but was so turned off by the glitches and poor matchmaking at launch that I stopped playing. The July 4th event included the fun Horde tweaks and that got me back into it. I cant put it down and I am glad they got it sorted out 6 title updates later. I'm still not great at it, but it is at least more fun now.

Going to follow him now...I hope there is another Horde twist too. But at 16X+ everyone can get to 100 pretty quick I would assume...I wonder how that will affect matchmaking?

Hinkle, you make it sound really bad wit the Gears Community, i have to say a lot of your comments come off kind of harsh, since Gears 1 i think its been the same in my opinion (notice thats my opinion). You have been commenting on Gears and the community since the last two title updates on the podcast.

Heres just hoping we get to the 20XP before this hits and that the twitter accounts are not fake.

This is actually going to suck. This is way too much XP, all legit 100s like myself actually had to work for it.

Also, I don't know why people complain about glitchers. I honestly think Hinkle made up that story a few podcast about someone doing the shield glitch, they fixed it a long time ago. I have over 30 days into multiplayer and have only seen it done two years ago. The only glitch I ever see now, which is hard and time consuming is the chainsaw barrier breaker glitch. This glitch is almost useless in Ranked/Social matches considering it takes a long time to do and if you get shot once, you have to redo it. I've only witnessed someone doing this glitch once. I recorded it with my phone and sent in to a mod on the Gears forums and the glitcher was banned from Gears 2.

Host advantage isn't even noticeable that much for me anymore. I never host, ever. I managed a 2.0+ KD in Warzone and stay in the Top 1000, going positive every game I play and winning most matches. Yet, the people that are bad at the game keep on playing and send me messages cussing and screaming, calling me host.

Back on topic, this is too much XP.

P.S. Thank you Epic for the last title update. I get little to no lag now.

I disagree it's not to much XP because I am a big gears fan but I play it once a week or so and I know I will never get to a 100 without the xp weekends but this shouldn't bother anyone that is a level 100 because you go there on your own and it's a great accomplishment but it doesn't mean that others shouldn't be able to use occasions such as this to be able to get closer to level 100.
