Dude....I've been to Europe numerous times (Athens, London, Brussels, Stuttgart, Cern, Garmisch) and Australia (Adelaide) once. I saw way more fat people over there than I do here at home, in the States. The teenager girls to twenty something over in Europe, especially in Greece and Brussels, were almost all overweight.

I work in Rosslyn (right outside of Washington, DC) and I almost get in car accidents all the time because some hot ass American girl with a great ass is walking down the sidewalk. Don't believe everything you hear. The majority of the obesity problem in this country come from the really poor and the minorities. The really poor can't afford to eat anything else other than McDonalds and the minorities have bad eating habits (like the hispanics) they bring from their homeland.

And yeah, soccer is really boring to watch to those who have no vested interest. 95% of the time when they get in scoring position they don't shoot or they miss the net by a freaking mile. maybe if you saw the goalies work harder it would be more interesting. You only see one good save, maybe two, a game. All of the other shots are a mile away from the goal or right at the goalie. And the reffing is horrible. Most frustrating sport to watch in the world.

@DocBooch I agree. this game looks terrible. where is the ball handling and running. all they do is pass and shoot. they should have just called it foosball kinect. this is a big fail.

I'm not saying his comment was any better. The stereotypical American viewpoint is why we no longer have the World Trade Center.

I'm sure if he dumped on American football or baseball, there would be a multitude of comments calling him a smelly European or some other dumb thing.


This game is not Soccer. It isn't even Foosball. At least with Foosball you can move your group of players back and forth. They should have made it just penalty kicks or something...the power of Kinect. I'm so impressed.

And the damn thing was a lag fest, you could tell from the body motion of the real player and the lag from when the ball was kicked.....the poor guy couldn't even respond to the AI fast enough.

What an absolute joke.

That is pretty much how all scored based, team games pan out isn't it?
Take basketball for example. The silly high scores indicate that that it is just as you've described it.

However, I do agree, this game looks pants. Games like football (or soccer if you must), basketball etc have an element of flair to them. This game does not appear to.

I love your post, I genuinely do.

To generalize the entirety of Europe, which consist of 47 member countries, is rather impressive. It also comes over as rather hypocritical coming from a a resident of America, which is documented for its obesity problems.

The rest of the post is equally sumptuous first, highlighting issues with the welfare system and creating a class divide, then going on to state that hispanics have bad lifestyle choices introduced from their homeland (again, this might come over as somewhat hypocritical).

And for the record, I'm not a fan of football, be it american or the I guess worldwide version. I'm more of a hockey and baseball fan....or for you UK brothers.....rounders.

To dissolve any sport into one function of it is very shallow. Wii sports baseball is just that. You pitch and hit, you don't even run the bases or field. These games are not my cup of tea....maybe the old ladies in nursing homes will enjoy it.

I think the prospect of Kinect has way more to offer than what is shown here. I can already see that the third party offerings are what is going to move the peripheral, Microsoft's offerings have all been lame.

My biggest disappointment from E3 this year was from realising this is what Rare has been working on.

As someone who hates football (soccer) and watching sports in general, I have to say I would rather watch the real thing played by amateurs who I had never met and had absolutely no connection with for 90 minutes* than play this. It's almost Big Rigs bad...wait no, that at least falls into the so bad it's funny category. This is just tragic.

Seriously Microsoft, dump the Rare title from your dev - it isn't doing anything but make gamers angry.

*Do football games last 90 minutes? I think they do, but I'm not exactly knowledgeable on the subject.

@onlysublime Online play? For Kinect games? There's enough lag on the input side of things, you'd probably have to wait five seconds or so to see if the other player managed to save the goal.

@Cuddlefish So you have watched only 1 game I guess? Try looking for the Germany vs. Uruguay highlithts to know what real soccer matches are like.

About the game...utter garbage, I don't know why they wanted to show this if it's (hopefully) not finished and polished yet.

I know it's the first gen games of kineckt...but... really????
