Sega scraps plans for Aliens vs. Predator support on consoles
40
According to a post on the game's forum by a Sega community manager, plans for future patches for Aliens vs. Predator have been inexplicably canceled. In said post, the Sega representative (posting under the username Clumsyorchid) laments, "I apologize, as I know there are many features and updates that you'd like to see. I'll keep fighting internally for this to happen, but until I hear otherwise, there will not be a console patch for either Xbox or PS3."
This decision has understandably upset the AvP-playing community, who has begun to rally support for the game on various fan sites and forums. We've contacted Sega to find out why future support has apparently been pulled from the title -- and why this decision was made just one week after the game received a fairly sizable DLC map pack.

I know most gamers dig longer games and I totally understand why. I also used to agree, but as an adult gamer with little extra time, I thought the campaign was perfect length. I was also happy that my wife loves the Aliens and Predator franchise and enjoyed watching me play through the game like a movie. :)

I dont know about you guys but I found AvP to be a good game, I loved the fear that I was about to be shived in the rear by the Alien as a Marine, I loved the nausea inducing gameplay of the alien and I loved being a invisible jerk as the Predator.
Its too bad Sega is taking support away from this...

I wonder if it's the same guy or if they just use the name when they have to deliver bad news so that people don't kill the messenger.

I'm sure all two people who care about that travesty of a game will be very sad.

Wow...this game must've sold really poorly for them to ditch support that early.

SEGA has been crumbling from the inside out since the failure of the Dreamcast. How many really good games have come out of SEGA in the last five years? I can't think of one that has been a top tier game or awarded an industry awards.

Go play Valkyria Chronicles. It's one of the best games this generation.
They also published Bayonetta this year, which is arguably one of the best games of its kind. IMO, the best up there with Ninja Gaiden Black and Devil May Cry 3.

And let's not forget the Total War series, that I've admittedly never played, which are among the most highly regarded PC and Strategy games.

@logicplay the human part of it was ass.. the predator part was bad ass but not the best..It gets boring seeing the same cinematic after awhile. most of the levels are dark and you have a miniature light that sucks ass ..cant really say I like this game at all. I bet its better on PC, but I dont want to try it on pc because I had it for console.

@VibrationON; Show a little sensitivity, we're all still upset about the Dreamcast.

I don't think anyone still plays the MP anyway, so I guess they figured why patch it?

It'll NEVER be anywhere NEAR as good as the original PC version in 1998.

In case you didn't know, you can get an updated version of
the first game on Steam. It's $5, but if your wait until the
Christmas sale, you could get it for less. It's suppose to
be more friendly with modern systems.

I enjoyed the game for a few days as the retro-fest that it is, but it's clear that lack of ambition (it plays exactly like the old AvsP games) and simplistic level design was what let it down. That and terrible online matchmaking, but they might have fixed that since I last played it.

I was planning on picking up this game on the cheap (the collector's edition) but since they're not going to be supporting it any further, I may not even pick it up at all.
Maybe a rental for the single player campaign.
I tried playing the PS3 MP demo when it was released but could never find and/or create a game.

This game was horrendous anyway. I don't blame them for not supporting it.
I absolutely loved the first two titles, but this one had gameplay akin to a title in 2003, with linear paths, horrible dialogue, spotty controls, and tons of bugs.
Granted it was absolutely gorogeous.

The game was pretty fun, but most people I know stopped playing because of the things that should have been patched in the first place. Who in the hell's idea was it to release a new DLC pack BEFORE they decided to patch the game? The matchmaking was horrendous in this game. Even when there were lots of people online, it would take forever for the game to put you in a match (on 360 at least). If this issue was fixed, I would probably still play the game online now and again. And now this news... Sega is even sucking as a publisher.
