THQ takes Star Wars' Battle for Hoth to the iPhone
22
Tired of Star Wars games being set on Tatooine? You'll be glad to hear, then, that the just released iPhone Star Wars game -- Star Wars: The Battle for Hoth -- takes place on the far snowier lands of Hoth. Okay, okay, you got us -- Hoth is actually in every single Star Wars game ever made. Fine. But did those games only cost $2.99, and were they meant to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back film release? Yeah, we didn't think so.
The game is said to be strategy-based and will have players strategically defending against oncoming waves of the Empire's worst for 15 levels (read: tower defense). In case the snow-laden planet hadn't already indicated as much to you, yes, there will be snowspeeders. Also, everyone's favorite giant walking war machines (AT-ATs, silly) will make an appearance. Remember: Use your tow cable on the legs!

@RustyJack Star Wars: The Battle for Degobah? Oh! How about Star Wars: The Battle for Dantooine? The Battle for Alderaan? That one would just have one level: you play Grand Moff Tarkin, and there's a giant red button. Press it, planet goes boom.

Tired of games based on Hoth.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I think they need to take a break from it. Seriously, almost every single Star Wars game based in the original trilogy era has a Hoth level. It's been done. The ice probably can't get any realer looking. The Snowspeeder's handling can't be more realistic, and the "tow cable shoot then tie it around the AT-AT's legs" can't be improved. Let's just let Hoth rest for awhile, ok please?
Altho, tower defense Star Wars game is a bit unique. Still think it should be set somewhere besides Hoth.

watched a video of it, kinda wish there was a free version to try out.
As a star wars fan, this looks pretty dope. As a tower defense fan, this game looks preeeetty bad. So conflicted.

Taking an overused saying where most of them aren't funny at all, that one is great.

Why can't us Trekkies have nice things too? Instead that "other" space-drama gets all the good games.

A true trekkie refers to themselves as a Trekker.

I am a Trekkie. I have been a Trekkie for longer than most of you have probably been alive. I say Trekkie. if you want to be called Trekker that is fine with me. The term Trekker is fine, but to insist "real" Trekkies call themselves that are the ones who think "Trekkie" is an embarressing term to begin with. Which it's not.
To answer the question, we do have several really good games. Problem is, none of them are recent.
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force 2
Star Trek: 25th Anniversary
Star Trek: Legacy (hear it's so-so.)
Star Trek (NES, seriously.)
