Guerrilla Games managing director keynoting GDC Europe

Organizers for the Cologne-based gaming industry get-together, GDC Europe, have announced who will deliver this year's keynote address: Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst. According to the press release announcing Hulst's keynoting duties, his speech will focus on "how the studio has matured, which obstacles had to be overcome and what some of the ingredients behind the success of the Killzone series are."
The presser also mentions Hulst's speech "will be located somewhere in the field of tension between hardware and software." We thought we were familiar with the Cologne Congress Center, but we have no idea where that is. Is it close to the cafeteria? Maybe?

"Success of the Killzone series."
Haha, right. Did people actually buy the first game? Did anyone even know it existed until they announced the sequel? Everyone knows the only reason why there was a second one was because Sony had to save face after presenting that notorious pre-rendered trailer.
But yeah, saying the *series* is successful is a stretch. The sequel, maybe. The first? Haha, yeah right.
Note: Not bashing KZ2, it wasn't a bad game. The first one really, really was. KZ2 might as well have been a different game by a different developer (literally, the way Sony pumped money into Guerilla.)

@(Unverified) I remember enjoying the first one despite It's flaws. The only aspect that held it down was It's technical limitations, and that was more the PS2's fault.

And this has something to do with GDC and Hulst... because? How mature. The fact that Killzone 2 was indeed a resounding success definitely showcases how Guerilla overcame the obstacles and disappointment of Killzone 1 - the fact that they've managed to forge a successful series-- yes, actually the fact that it has a successful sequel that has spawned ANOTHER sequel that's already getting rave reviews from its previews - DOES indeed make it a successful series.

I'm interested in hearing more about how they are using the PS3 to get better than kz2 graphics with 3D, also maybe to see move mentioned just because there hasn't been any gameplay shown with it.
