If you thought a bill banning the sale of violent video games to kids was misinformed, unfair and wrong-headed when it it was being pushed forth by California, you'll be tempted to add "downright scary" to the list when you read this: Gamasutra reports that 11 states have joined together to form a Voltron of Wrong in support of the bill.
If you: (1) Believe that a medium that's doing a fine job of regulating itself shouldn't be regulated by the government just because their old, old thumbs can't work the controllers and (2) live in Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Texas or Virginia, now would be a fine time to call your local representative.

I may be Canadian... and I may be 24.... but what they're doing is just plain wrong.
Trying to take it out on the game industry and kids doesn't do the American goverment any good.

@ViralG You're lucky. We are becoming so much of a "nanny state" now. It's scary. I think the worst part is a lot of my peers don't realize it. For example this bill is just a waste of taxpayer money. The people sitting around me didn't see anything wrong with it until I reminded them that is OUR money being used for this stupid bill.
Got any room in Canada?

The attorney generals of the eleven states can issue all of the amicus briefs they want. The Supreme Court has well enough precedent to uphold the appellate court decision that struck down the law.

I'd like to know why violence in video games is such a problem, yet...
It's totally fine to show people with their heads blown off, bloodied bodies in the streets on my local news, after a quick casual warning, if any.
It's totally fine for 100 anti-abortion demonstrators to line side of major intersections, each with a 2' wide but 5' high image of various aborted fetuses.

No point in getting worried about this, US judges in higher courts ALWAYS respect the First Amendment.
Hell, sometimes they respect it a bit too much, like when they allowed those crazy religion hate people to protest at funerals and stuff. Though that case is going to the Supreme Court and might be overturned.

Hasn't the governator given up on wasting tax payers money on stupid bill yet?! It hasn't passed the previous 2 times he tried, only wasting over 200K, now he keeps going at it. He should be worrying more about things that matter, like how about sending giving lessons on how to be good parents and monitor what your children see and play instead? what a jack@$$
