@Prboi

Using your analogy you should be talking about motion controls and NOT graphics.... So let's go with that.... When the Wii first came out everyone was so skeptical about motion controls but then you get games like.... oh wait almost 4 years into the consols life time and you get developers making games that don't REALLY REQUIRE motion like NSMB and SMG2. funny.

though the tech could maybe have some creative experiences... I'm not seeing it. and until I do I'm not buying it either

@Prboi youre stupid if you think kenict is the same as a CONSOLE... the only thing they have in common is the hefty price tag.. most people dont have 150 dollars to just throw around, especially when there's nothing compelling coming out with it . Why wont MS just wait and let the developers work with it instead of waiting for a miracle to happen ? Because they know that most people will bend over and take their crap. And thats the same for SONY, but at least Sony has proven titles like LBP to work with move and it seems to be a good library waiting for it in the future as well.

I was just saying that the techonlogy built into Kinect is far more powerful than you think it is. & comparing it to the Wii is just from a technology standpoint. I'm not talking about graphics in general but the wii was capable of doing that techonolgy wise. & Super Mario Galaxy came out a year after the Wii launched. I just think that there's more too Kinect than what they show off. Like I said, you guys just see the price tag & automatically think it's stupid & not worth it. Really? I just want people to stop being so ignorant & shoot down something just because it's not what they like. This is probably the closest step we've made into creating virtual reality where you are literally in the game & gamers don't even care. Wouldn't it be cool to have the things we see like in the movie gamer?

sure they dont require motion controls but they do enhance the experience, you cant take that away from motion controls, there the extra salt to the mash potatoes . .

@The Tim Haa haa. That's exactly where my Vision Cam is. I used it more as a shi**y webcam when I had my first child and lived 8 hours from my parents than I have as a gaming peripheral. It was supported in like, two game, and both those games were terrible. I'll get Kinect, but not at $150 unless there are really some compelling ways to use it in upcoming games.

@ytilanigiroon the hate comes from the price DUH. Also, if you think that 150 is worth it then by all means buy it. But in return I can ask you why??! if you can do that with a simple flick of a joystick . I mean really, are you that lazy? I dont blame you but why cant MS just wait to get some good titles to launch with ?

This is ok I guess...Im pretty much gonna buy Kinect just for the menu navigation and voice recognition aspect , also for the video chatting feature which will be great if that camera has decent Resolution....Move I may buy if they get some games that can compare to the Metroids, and the Marios on the Wii and support it properly

Thats eyetoy with the playstation move attachment, not just regular old vanilla eyetoy. the eyetoy has been out for what, 7 years by now? if the eyetoy was capable of a game like Dance Central it would have been had a similar experience released for it by now . . .but alas it hasnt . . .

Making those comparisons about the $150+ band kits used for only one game (or series of the "same" game) makes Kinect's price look much better... it'll be used with a lot of future $40 games and not just the sequel to a specific game.... hmmmm...... I'm still not getting one cause it's too pricey for me, but it makes it sound better.

@robotoid The thing is, they need at least one game as awesome as Rock Band that couldn't have been made any other way to justify the price. Where's that game?

I'm really hesitant to buy something at $150 knowing that one day it's going to assimilate the rest of my electronic devices and eventually destroy mankind.

Was the Kinect ever meant for hard-core gamers? I mean, I'm not getting one. I never wanted one. And, just because someone makes something doesn't mean you have to buy it. "Here. This is a pile of shit. It cost $10 bucks." and then you say, "A pile of shit for $10 bucks is way to expensive!" Um, hey, IT IS A PILE OF SHIT!

@Jayslacks Wrong, welcome to America where people buy things because they're new.

The good news is that everyone will share your mentality roughly 6-9 months after launch. It's a psychological thing.

Considering it costs less than two XBOX wifi adapters, the price isn't that bad.

...i'm sorry, but the 4GB drive thing is just slightly ridiculous. When you're selling slims with 250GB for $299, offer those who dont have a 360 a 250GB drive for $349.99. Hell, even $399.

I understand you want to be marketable against Sony and Nintendo, but if someone really wants the MOVE controller for a PS3, they'll have to pay $299 plus another $179 as one of the analysts pointed out.. which puts sony at roughly $480 for their motion pack.

The Wii market has already been lost, i fear. With that large of an install base, offering something that's going to cost more -- let it be $299, $349, or $399 -- without an established base of games that are compatible with the product and nothing that has a marketable name to consumers -- who's going to go for that when nintendo has a household name in mario that everybody seems to know?

Maybe i'm blabbering, maybe i'm wrong... but i just feel this push for that marketing is coming far too late for both MS and Sony, so why not make it appeal to the core gamer?

@ottoman673 They need to stop targeting the type of people that ran out and bought a Wii because they heard about it on Oprah. Those people own Wiis, those people are happy, those people are not going to spend over $300 on something that's basically the same thing.

This already happened back with the Atari 2600. It was a lot like the Wii, all the rage, people talked about it everywhere, a ton of people bought it. Then the Atari 5200 came out. It wouldn't play your Atari 2600 games, and performance wise it wasn't all that much better. Shocker, it didn't sell. The casual crowd has always been fad-driven. As soon as you attempt to cash in, they move on.

Luckily, Kinect and Move are just accessories, so even if they don't succeed, it's not the end of the world. Either way, I wish they would focus a bit more on offering us, the people who already bought 360s and PS3s, good reasons to invest in their motion add-ons.

So far, I see Sony's Sports Champions and Kinect Sports. They haven't even been released yet and already my hoping for originality feels futile.

The fact that there's been so much discussion of price-taggery is proof positive that there's not enough interesting software on display to make the Joystiq-commenting population care.

When the 3DS lineup was announced, how many people did you hear saying, "Well, okay, but it better be under $200 or I walk"? We said, "WANT!" first and thought about price second.

Wake me in a year or two when they get over making minigame collections and exercise games for my mom and start making stuff that I might care about (assuming it even lasts that long). Because until then, it doesn't matter if it's $150 or $50.

The price isn't great, but isn't a deal breaker. Still, after the vision cam and the HD-DVD player, I will never be an early adopter of anything Microsoft. I'll think about it after I see decent ongoing support.

I think they should have just stayed focused on making better non motion games and made them cheaper for the consumer. $70 games are way to expensive. why do we need to buy something before we buy the game. we did that when we bought the console

Well, like I said, the price isn't that far off - in my opinion. I also said that how I would be purchasing Kinect in a bundled format. If the current rumored prices hold out: I'll be getting a new system for the normal price, and getting Kinect for $100, which is about what I'd expect to pay for something like this.

No, I'm really not /that lazy/, but if I don't have to turn the controller on until I'm actually playing a game - not just navigating the UI, then why would I? What I'm assuming that Microsoft are trying to accomplish is the simplification/naturalization of the users interaction with their xbox; that is - IF Kinect will eventually work with the entire xbox UI and not just a sub menu, specific application, or games.

Again, the hate for Kinect is incomprehensible to me; Microsoft aren't taking anything away from their users, they're adding another choice. You can choose to get it, or to leave it alone. Where is the problem?

I waited two years to buy a Wii. I don't see why I shouldn't wait too for this to see if it's worth or not.

I'm not a big fan of MS even though I have a 360 and use it occasionally. I'm probably not going to buy it anytime soon if at all but, I find the price fare. You only need one Kinect for multiplayer. So it's a one time purchase versus the PS Move where everyone needs one plus maybe the navigator controller and the Wii by the same token.
