I'm already missing every convention I wanted to go to, so not missing this little shindig.
Still not liking PC games being around $60. :\

@JerrytheB I got Diablo 2 for $50 but don't worry, I'm not trying to start something so I won't say more. I just really hope we get something badass in the box like one of those huge manuals with backstory that were pretty awesome in older games.

OMG the manual from the first game was amazing. When I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to play games on school-nights, but I would still get new games in the middle of the week, so I would have to vent my excitement by reading every word of the manual for every new game I got. Starcraft was by far the best of these, with an amazing backstory that instantly hooked me into the universe.
Strangely, I pre-download Starcraft 2 from Blizzard, and it comes with a PDF of the manual, so I'm reliving it all over again. Unfortunately it looks like more of a recap of the original game's events and Brood War. I don't think there's anything really substantive.

It's still Blizzard, so I don't doubt it, but I never played Diablo as a kid.

If the game was at $50 and the Collector's was at $70, I would buy the collector's edition.
But for $60 and $100, even the normal edition of the game isn't worth it, I won't be buying until the price drop. As amazing as StarCraft is as a game, StarCraft II really isn't that much more than StarCraft 1 plus high definition graphics and battle.net/Real ID support.

Monkey, tell me how the hell you know what the story is considering the beta was multiplayer only and had no story at all?

A game costs an extra 10 dollars, and you won't buy it out of some kind of misplaced principle. Even at the crappiest jobs 10 bucks is around one hour of work.
There's cheap, and then there's stupid. Pretty easy to see which category you fall into.

The best RTS in at least 12 years since the original Starcraft came out, for sure.
Nobody out there does RTS like Blizzard anymore. Back in the 1990s there were a few other quality RTS games, but in the last decade or more they've been universally lame.

How come Brisbane: Australia isn't on that list. I happen to know there is a huge launch event going on there, with several producers of the game doing a Q&A session, plus competitions and other bits and pieces. They're expecting several thousand people to show up.

I pre-ordered today and am also going. I am so psyched we are finally getting a huge launch in Brisbane instead of Sydney or Melbourne!
Yay!
