The RPG-loving gamers of Japan spoke up back in April about which of Square's catalog of titles they'd like to see on the PSOne Classics storefront. It seems a victor has been crowned: According to a Tweet from Shinji Hashimoto, the next Square Enix title bound for the service is Legend of Mana, due out next week on the Japanese PSN for 600 yen ($6.50).
We've got high hopes that the beautifully illustrated Mana will come stateside, but seeing as how we're still waiting on the PSN localization of Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhander, Bushido Blade, Bushido Blade 2, Vagrant Story, Chocobo Racing, Final Fantasy I and II, all the Front Mission games, SaGa Frontier, Threads of Fate and Xenogears -- well, you get the picture.

Adhoc is local, not online. :)
So a mutliplayer feature to play with friends online would be "online multiplayer capability."

I know Adhoc was first a local multiplayer feature, but this all changed with the combination of the PS3 and PSP.
Haven't you heard of "PSP Adhoc Party" ?
You play adhoc compatible games via PSN using PS3.
I don't know if this would be a good reference, but I found a vide here.

You can also try doing a search on Youtube on "Adhoc Party".
And I was wishing, PS1 archives would have this kind of feature too :)

Well, why don't the games just let you play online via PSP wifi rather than connect to the PS3? Unless that's just extra functionality. I don't really see any point of connecting to the PS3 first.
Adhoc used to just mean playing wirelessly "locally" with people 3 feet next to you.

I think the online play for PSP via wifi is called "infrastructure mode", but this is only compatible for a few games compared to "Adhoc Mode".
And you can say that this "Adhoc Party" feature is an extra functionality, which was added later.
This wasn't available when the PSP was released.
I think it was a while after PS3 was released.
I think Sony wanted to make something like "kai".

Adhoc Party has been available in the US for a long time. It is a workaround of sorts for all those PSP games which support Adhoc multiplayer but not Infrastructure multiplayer. There are not many third-party PSP games that offer Infrastructure multiplayer.

Joystiq!!! WHY did you have to post that list of titles that are still NOT available on US-PSN.
That's incredibly cruel!
*puts sad face and starts praying again for Brave Fencer Musashi, Einhander, Bushido Blade, Bushido Blade 2, Vagrant Story, Chocobo Racing, Final Fantasy I and II, Front Mission, SaGa Frontier, Threads of Fate and Xenogears to come to States*

this is def a PS classic i want to play. I so really miss this game and wish SE would make a new one.
Who knows maybe if we do get the game here in the US, if the sales are really high maybe that will show SE people want another game made.

I totally got Brave Fencer Musashi just for the FFVIII demo back in the day and was pleasantly surprised by the awesome game Musashi was.
I also had a majority of the other games rattled off above and foolishly kept none of them. Though I still have Parasite Eve and FF56789.
Still, temptation to get a PSP: rising.

It would seem like the sort of thing they should release in conjunction with the upcoming 3rd Birthday, doesn't it?

Rather have Vagrant Story. Legend of Mana ushered in the downfall of the series. It wasn't that bad but it wasn't that good either.

I'll join in to say what everyone else is saying. Why such a long wait to get games in the USA that Japan has had for YEARS now?

I still don't get it - there's absolutely no way that these games should take so long to make it to the stores.
SE could release a new game every couple months month, make their money, then use the profits for newer projects and to look good for investors. Wholeheartedly ignoring a section of the market basically desperate to throw money at you seems idiotic to me, business wise.

I really don't like this game. He throws out so many good things Secret of Mana had...
Still eagerly waiting for Vagrant Story and Xenogears, though. Einhander wouldn't be half bad also.

I LOVE this game! I still have it, but sadly for some reason my disc always locks up on my 80GB PS3. No scratches on the disc either. :(

Yeah count me in as one of those NOT excited at the prospect of Legend of Mana as the next PSOne Classic. Good game but some stupid decisions meant it was a disappointment.
