Being able to play a somewhat-less-antiquated version of a classic game: good

Square-Enix adding in "new elements" and "upgrades:" - quite possibly bad, in light of the pathetic Chrono Trigger add-ons and FF Tactics Advance.

New title: awful.

Yea but the cut scenes they added in War of the Lions and other 'new elements' turned out pretty well in my opinion. And The March of The Black Queen would of been a great sub title!

You're both right. War of the Lions was awesome, but FFT Advance was terrible. : ) Either way, its great to see another TO game. Maybe if there is enough interest they will release Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis for PSN/XBLA.

Hey, I loved FFTA.

Wasn't so keen on the horrid slowdown in War of the Lions, though. I really hope there's nothing even remotely like that in this game.

@Aerothorn I'm boggled that this got downvoted. Apparently you're not supposed to question Square-Enix?

@Shiv Thrice Um, who said it wasn't? But that was a port, not a remake.

No people on joystiq just hate negative opinions on...anything.

And War of the Lions was good, but the port itself was terrible. The severe lag in animation is flat out uncalled for.

I think it was more the attack on War of the Lions than anything else. And Chrono Trigger too. It is good to know that Square Enix can still hit the fans with good content.

I absolutely loved this game on the Playstation.

@monster215 But I never attacked, nor mentioned, War of the Lions, so I'm a little confused as to where that's coming from.

As far as Chrono Trigger - did anyone other than me play the new content? It was awful cookie-cutter dungeons that paled in comparison to the rest of the game.

Yeah, the Chrono Trigger DS dungeons were exceedingly forgettable, and the Lost Sanctum was just excruciating. I did like the new ending, though.

I'll admit to not liking XII and XIII anywhere near as much as VII-IX (the first ones I ever played), but they were still fun, interesting games with memorable and unique game mechanics.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only one in the world that appreciates a change of pace in a game series what with people apparently wanting a return to 10-15 year-old game mechanics and structures all the time. I'd rather learn something new than re-teach myself the same lesson I already committed to heart a hundred times.

Thanks! =]

It's not that. I enjoyed the new combat system, but the game is lacking in so many things to do. Anything extra that deviates from the linear path + battles. I'm not a "nostalgia guy", and the thing i like most about FF series is their courage to change everything each chapter.

It's just that are many many wrong design decisions with the game, and the story is just weak.

XII i haven't played yet.

I think it's time for a new Ogre Battle! Tactics was great and all, but I didn't enjoy them as much.

FFT for the PSP was awesome but pledged by slow down and the DS version has dumbed down. Hopefully this will be a better tactics game.

Best news ever! Wherever I mention it—campus, coworkers, even the unaware GameStop employees—there's a lot of love and excitement for this classic to return to us. Can't wait! FFT practically *never* leaves my PSP!

Well, poo. I couldn't see the comment on a refresh—and not even when reloading the page in Ie, and then I ended up double-posting in error. Apologies; I can't seem to find a way to undo or delete this second post.
