Halo Reach Xbox 360 bundle available September 14 for $399

The $399 Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle whose existence was leaked by the Ars mole is now official. A Microsoft press release details the limited-edition silver console, which is available for pre-order starting ... now.

The bundle contains a silver 250 GB Xbox 360 S -- which "not only captures the look and feel of the game, but also features custom sound effects from the Halo universe." What? What? It also comes with two silver wireless controllers featuring Reach artwork, a similarly decorated headset, a Standard Edition copy of the game, a voucher for "Limited Edition Elite" armor and an episode from the Halo Legends anime anthology. It'll be out on the game's September 14 release date.

In addition, standalone Halo: Reach-themed controllers and headsets will go on sale in late August, for $59.99 and $49.99 respectively.

Unlike the Halo 3 version, this one actually looks really nice. Heck, better than the glossy black too.

Anyone else notice the promotional units don't have the stickers on the front telling you not to move the console when it's on. But retail units DO.

It's also been rumoured that the review units given out at E3 were different in many ways to the retail units. The review units had quiet drives and different (quiet) power bricks, the retail units have loud fans in them.

@GeorgePunk Trolling or what? I have the new Xbox and it's pretty much silent except for the noise of the disc spinning if you don't install the game. My old Xbox sounds even more like a jet engine now.

I have to hand it to Microsoft, they love to put out some pretty cool special editions.

I wish Sony would follow suit for their big games.

@Faenix THe green matches the cat helmet with the Legendary edition, and the orange is supposed to match the face plate on the cat helmet as well. It puts some color into an otherwise plain entertainment shelf.

I imported my FFXIII PS3 & it's perfect. The PS3 & X360 consoles are region free, multilingual and can play all games from all countries.

I have no clue about the ps3, but 360s are certainly NOT region free.

So this one actually is worth the extra cost. If it didn't include the headset, it was a whole $10 savings. Kicking myself for not keeping my wallet closed for a few more weeks. Great, now I just have to try to unload my Elite to recover some of the money I spent on the new 360 S.

are you talking about the wired or wireless headset? because according to the press release its the wired headset and the wireless you can only get sold separately.

+1 I'm not entirely sold on the branding (although I have the 360 S already) the '^ Media Reader ^' just makes me want to say 'Really? You don't say?' and looks a bit pointless

If it weren't Halo branded, I'd love to have that, I love the look of it, like it's made of steel.

I'm assuming there will be some cool sound effects when you push the eject and power buttons. I kinda wanna hear what they'll sound like.

Can't believe people are making a big fuss about custom sound effects. Get yourself a PC and you can have all the custom sounds you want! My favorite is Portal sounds. And when you're bored, you can change the sounds again. No need to buy a $400 console for some different sounds.

Meh. I prefer the design of the Halo 3 console. This one looks a bit plain.

I like the matte finish, that's about it.

anyone notice on the new slims, the power button only responds to fingers. i tried to hit it with a pencil and a pipe and it only responds to fingers. and finger like apendages
