Mass Effect 2 DLC ventures into 'Lair of the Shadow Broker'

BioWare has just announced the latest Mass Effect 2 DLC: "Lair of the Shadow Broker." If you haven't played ME2 , you may want to skip any details about this mission ... suffice it to say, in the intergalactic world of Mass Effect 2 there are shadows and sometimes, those shadows need to be brokered. Oh, and they have lairs.

Those of you who have played ME2 can probably guess how this is going to shake out. As expected, Shepard teams up with Liara T'Soni to "confront the mysterious and sinister Shadow Broker," the very same info-dishing individual (or group of individuals?) that aided Liara in recovering Commander Shepard's body. As BioWare so delicately puts it, "it's time to even the score."

After last month's exceptional "Overlord" DLC, all eyes are on BioWare to keep it up. All the info we've got is a "coming soon" release window and the three screenshots below.

Damn, I've been waiting for this for a long time. Hope it includes some love-tension moments if you had a relationship with her on the first game!

Wait, didn't Joystiq refer to Overlord as the "Last" DLC multiple times? What happened there?

Joystiq amended the post indicating Overlord wasn't the last DLC.

im up for some more.

Overlord was awesome, and this will hopefully be even better, what with the connection to squad members and central ME plot elements like the Shadow Broker.

is it just me or does that look like a new gun on screen shot 3?

There's three new weapons visible in the images. A new pistol, assault rifle and shotgun.

One of the ME2 devs already spoke on twitter saying those 3 weapons aren't from Shadow Broker:

@Rabidkeebler Asari live much longer than humans. Liara is 106 in the first game, but by Asari standards that makes her a child.

I enjoyed Overlord despite a few goofy moments and the limited NPC interaction. If BioWare doesn't try to pad this DLC out by turning it into a shooting gallery, then I think I may have to spring for it. It's my hope that BioWare will finally allow for some decent choice and consequence in one of their games (even Dragon Age is pretty skimpy in this regard), but somehow I doubt that will happen.

Good God NOOO! I F***ING Hate Liara! I always picked her up last in ME1 and avoided her in ME2. I really don't want to play anything with her in it ever. This sucks. Why cant we get more of Aria. The Asari from Omega. She was awesome! Oh well. Im going to buy this anyway. I cant get enough Mass Effect.

I still don't understand how Shep is supposed to be in a relationship with the romance from the first game. To them he's been dead for 2 years. There was no way for anyone else to know besides Cerberus that he was being brought back.

Looks like theirs a new Assault Rifle and SMG/Pistol in this DLC

I wonder if they can (or will) tie the DLC behavior into other ME2 decisions you've made? One of my male Sheps romanced Liara in ME1, but then ended up with Tali (by way of Miranda) in ME2.

I'm curious to see if that comes up when Liara drops back into his life.
