@NinjaJesus Okay, why do people need to bring in their personal experiences with a certain game when no one asked for it???

@Code Supreme commenter Awww, you see that's the wonderful and glorious thing about freedom of speech.

You see I can say damn near whatever the hell I please and not have to ask a jackass like you whether I should say it or not. It's so awesome.

@Code Supreme commenter rar, really Fake Code? Did you just say that? That's no good! Come on, straighten up, show some respect, everyone is entitled to there right opinion, whether someone asks or not, it is one of the beauties of the internet ~!

rar, here's a real question, why would someone pose as me to make silly shots at joystiq's community, if you really wanted to be like me, you don't wanna be posting stuff like that, no one will like that! Whatcha wanna do is have a gung-ho outlook, and try and keep a positive attitude owo~!

Just beat this slick-ass game this week. This review makes me a little skeptical on the DLC, but for the low-low price of 'nothing' I'll have to pay for it, you can bet I'll be chasing that 250 gamerscore.

I think that Alan Wake, while it has its flaws, is one of the most compelling games I have ever played. I am so excited to play more.

It's a refreshing feeling to think about this game when you're NOT playing it. I really cannot think of another game like this. The narrative is so much more engrossing than the actual story. Don't think they are the same.
I hope they never decide to ruin this experience by trying to make a movie about it. The medium as a video game is so appropriate to deliver the feel of the characters and personality of Bright Falls itself.

If you were expecting, or hoping for, or even desiring an ending that explains everything to you I'm amazed you finished the game. It's very clearly not that kind of story at any point.

I was not expecting that ending, but I was indeed hoping for it, and that was the driving force for my completing the game.

Great review. My copy came with a code for free DLC, so I'll definitely be submerging myself into what is guaranteed to be an awesome episode.

If product placement leads to free DLC then what's the big deal? Does it matter that the phone says Verizon? It has to say something doesn't it? I'd rather a real company then some made up Verisone or something.

I'm currently working my way through Alan Wake on the Nightmare mode so hopefully I'll be ready for this DLC's difficulty.

Can't wait til Tuesday!

Holy crap, I forgot about this. 2 chapters left on my 2nd play-through, twill be my mission for the weekend so I'm ready for this next week.

@ Ludwig - Interesting you say that you should conserve flare gun ammo for the DLC. In all of the game I really enjoyed that when it gave you weapons like the flare gun, flash bangs, good rifle, it meant that you should use them while you have them. Don't conserve, just use the best stuff you've got. I liked that you had no weapons at the start of each chapter as I really think it allowed Remedy to pace out the action in a great way.

In summation, pumped!

I can't believe this game's sales are so low. What an absolutely incredible experience.

I highly encourage anyone who is on the fence about this one to go out and BUY IT. (NEW)

We really need to show them that we need more experiences like this one! Well done Remedy. Amazing work.

I didn't think the adverts were so out of whack. I mean, I see AT&T ads all over the place in real life. meh. If games are supposed to be closer to 'real' looking then we should expect games with billboards in the environments to have real ads like the billboards in our real life.

Anyways, I agree about collectibles.... not my bag. But despite some niggling issues here and there, I found Alan Wake a very welcome story driven game. Can't wait for the DLC.
