Video: Live performance of Red Dead Redemption's 'Far Away'

One of the most memorable moments from Red Dead Redemption comes with the player's arrival in Mexico -- a moment accompanied by a haunting acoustic tune created for the game, titled "Far Away." Singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez recently performed the song live and on video at Rockstar HQ.

Nearly flawless performance, and a great song. I think I'll seek out more Jose Gonzales in the future.

I remember when I first heard this song in game. It was awesome. I was actually sad when it stopped, but I don't know how I feel about it now. I don't remember the squeaky voice and without the western visuals, it's not the same. I still like it, but I don't get the same feeling I did while playing RDR.

@piez That was my experience too. I never heard this song in-game. I must have done something to break it.
But yeah, I heard the one after Tall Trees. That one was excellent too.

It was an overcast and raining when I hit Mexico. I thought it was rigged to be like that, but I was at the right place at the right time. Beautiful song.

I had a full-on rainstorm with thunder and lightning while I was doing the mission to chase, lasso & break the first horse you can get (Hungarian Half-bred? One of Bonnie's missions if I remember.)
I thought it must have been scripted to happen. The horse was rearing up on it's hind legs while the thunder bellowed and the lightning flashed.
Awesome.

I was really surprised when I read he wrote a song specifically for RDR, but that just gives me another reason to make him one of my favorite musicians.

That song was lame. The only lacking feature of RDR was the soundtrack. It didn't have a great Western soundtrack. High Plains Drifter, Josey Wales, Magnificent Seven, Silverardo, the Wild Bunch...those were great soundtracks. RDR really lacked that cinematic punch in the audio dept. Oh well. Great game otherwise.

What was the song that played right when John Marston is heading back to see his wife and son in Beecher's Hope for the first time?

Beautiful. If anyone knows where I could possibly find the sheet music for this I would really appreciate it. My searches have come up short :(
