Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter clawing its way to PSP/PS3 Minis in August

Sure, you could pick up a Cabela game and go hunting for some helpless deer. Or, you can man up and start hunting dinosaurs.

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is the third "minis" game from developer Beatshapers, who previously worked on NormalTanks and BreakQuest. You'll be tracking down fifteen different dinosaurs in five different levels, using a variety of weapons, including sniper rifles and crossbows.

Don't expect an arcade-style game in the style of Turok, though. According to the press release, you'll have to take into account "wind direction" and use a "special dinosaur call" to successfully track and locate dinosaurs to hunt. That probably sounds something like this: "Oh my god, please don't eat me!"

Carnivores will be available for PSP and PS3 next month.

Looks like the directly ported over the PC version from more than decade ago (same crappy textures). It was fun for a while but ultimately frustrating. you would pick a species to hunt and bring along the appropriate call and weapon. However, I would often find every other species than the one I was hunting, not to mention getting blind sided by a raptor while I was hiding in the grass.

If the do bring it over to the PS3, they better make it a lot purdier or people won't even give it a second glance...

I used to like that game because it was one of the only things that ran on my lame computer back in school ;)

They could have dressed it up a bit... looks like it's running on a cell phone.

@maisp I was about to say the exact same thing, you could trek around for hours and not see your dinosaur. Also most of them ran at at least the same speed as you, so if they were running away and you needed a headshot or whatever it was nigh impossible.

Those velociraptors still count as my scariest ever game moment though. They'd weave through every shot I took and then pounce me =(
Scarier than any horror game I've yet played.

Now thats oldschool.... but yeah are these psp shots or windows 95 shots?

I had a game that looked EXACTLY like this forever ago on the PC.

it was awesome fun. to kill a T. Rex you had to shoot him in the eye, no other area would kill him.

PSP/PS3 and it looks like that? I hope that is the PSP version because it looks just like the original. Meaning horrible. Hope it plays better too.

Little faith in our dear PSP I see, it can put out far more power then that, if thats the best they could do on PSP, that's pretty pathetic, even DS games don't look that bad.

I used to love the Carnivores games!

So did Solid Snake. Solid Snake loves killing those damn dinosaurs.

It's a Mini, meaning its playable on both PSP and PS3, and at a budget price range, between $1.99 and $4.99.

When iPhone games look's better then a PSP game there is something wrong. I realy dont see the point with these Minis games...it's like having to pay for a flash game...

Sounds almost like Monster Hunter to me, just less complex, given that everything in Monster Hunter is reptilian (even the improbable ones living in ice worlds)

At least these ones can't breath fire...

Wow, I used to play this as a kid all the time, but recently I snapped the disc in half by accident, this news couldn't be better for me, can't wait!

I remember I used to stick near the water, and whenever a T-Rex came after me I would just swim my ass off.

Someone out there decided it was high time to bring back Carnivores? That's awesome.

Why does the art for "Carnivores" feature mostly herbivores?

Looking thru the screen shots I noticed that only 5 of the 15 actually had carnivores in them.

This game was very funny back in the time. But I think this is a useless PSN release.

Naming a game "Carnivores" and what's on the cover? A HERBIVORE? Yeah, right choice. Do your fucking homework, programmer people. Everybody knows that a Triceratops is a herbivore, damn it.

Actually Triceratops, even its herbivore, can attack player, so its dangerous.
