According to Event Hubs, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono recently dropped a fairly sizable bomb on attendees of the company's "Street Fighter Mania!: SSFIV and Beyond" panel at Comic-Con: Street Fighter X Tekken. The oft-rumored project will be developed by Capcom using the Street Fighter IV engine (only with two-fighter tag team battles), and will feature a number of fighters from Namco's similarly successful fighting franchise, including Kazuya and Nina Williams.
But that's not all! Ono also revealed that Namco Bandai would be developing Tekken X Street Fighter, which will be developed in-house at Tekken, and spearheaded by long-time franchise producer Katsuhiro Harada. Both titles will be released for 360 and PS3, though according to a cheeky slide at the end of the presentation, the current release window is "not for a while!" Update: Now with video!

I love how it says "Release Date? Not for a while. Enjoy Marvel vs Capcom 3 while you wait." Great announcement though.

so its not namco vs. capcom and capcom vs. namco, but its tekken x street fighter and street fighter x tekken.
2 Things our found in this:
They did not want to milk the vs. brand so they put X.
no other CAPCOM or NAMCO characters that do not come from the series's in the title.
NO time crisis and PAC-MAN characters?! How dare you.

@crashman213 Yeah, that sorta dissapointed me. I was hoping for a big company crossover game (well, two games) but instead it's just Street Fighter and Tekken, 2d or 3d, pick your poison. I'm not saying I won't check this out when the time comes, but I'm not nearly as excited now.

You could always play M.U.G.E.N. It's pretty cool when you find a driver that let's you use your PS3 or Xbox controller. You can have everything from Mario vs. Ryu to Ronald McDonald vs. Peter Griffin. Best thing is it's free and you can make your own characters with some time and skill.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, If by Brewl you mean Brawl it would NEVER happen due to smash bros. brawl being Nintendo characters and bonus sega and konami characters. Capcom was not included, though maybe it could because megaman was on NES.
Unless there's a game called Brewl. Catchy.

Considering it said "enjoy mcv3 while you can" I except a 2012 or '13 release date.

More excited about Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike being announced as a downloadable title on PSN/Live.
Kind of disappointing that these two games are limited to the SF and Tekken characters, would have loved to see Servbot vs. Pacman.

Just some backstory I want to add:
- Namco and Capcom have actually done a project together in Japan: Namco X Capcom
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_%C3%97_Capcom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAUfyCz-BGU
- I imagine they ran into some licensing issues hence why it never came overseas. Good to see at least the Tekken franchise could work it out for what is potentially a mind-blowing game!

I think it never came overseas because it was a game type not popular in the US, and because a lot of the characters featured are not famous outside of Japan. There wouldn't have been any licensing issues, since the two companies involved owned everything in the game.
Incidentally, the DS game Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, released in the US by Atlus, is a sequel of sorts. Namco X Capcom's two original characters appear in the game (as does KOS-MOS from Xenosaga, who was also in NxC). Endless Frontier's sequel, though, doesn't seem like it will come to the US.

Well, true, and that was why I wrote "of sorts." All I really meant was that it comes after the events of NxC, because (from what I've read; I haven't actually played that much of the game) Xiaomu and Reiji recognize KOS-MOS from their previous encounter (I think you'll agree that KOS-MOS is rather unforgettable). The game story itself has no relation to NxC, yes.

Oh! Yes, in that respect I can see what you mean. In the sequel to that, you can play T-elos and Saya. Very weird considering that they NPC's in NxC and SRT OG Saga I:

I think that it's more of them trying to please both sets of fans. Some like the fighting style of Tekken and want to stick with it. Others prefer Street Fighter and don't want to have to learn a whole new game. More for compatibility than milking in my opinion.

I don't know. This idea just seems so bankrupt. Like, the move just smacks of conservatism; one series from the early nineties taking on another series from the mid-nineties.
It just doesn't seem like certain companies are able, or willing, to bring forward new concepts, with new characters, scenarios, etc. Instead, companies seem 'really' content to subsist on a stable diet of 'laggard' franchises. And then you get bastardisations like this.

Wake me up when we have BlazBlue vs. Street Fighter.
Namco will pull a Snk and make a crappy game, just like Snk vs. Capcom - while Capcom vs. Snk on the other hand was pretty neat.

Why not just add in every other company in the world?
...and then the roster will still be less than 50, with numerous fan-favorite characters missing due to balancing issues.

It would have been better as Namco X Capcom and not Tekken. But either way I would have preferred an SNK vs Capcom sequel or even two separate games: one with Namco and one with SNK.
I am not excited to play a Namco fighting game after Tekken 6 and Calibur 4 have passed and been underwhelming.
