Fable 3 gameplay footage from Comic-Con is very, very upsetting
117
We're not sure who was responsible for controlling the Fable 3 Comic-Con show floor demo shown in the video below, but whoever it was should be ashamed. Not because of all the peasant murder, mind you -- we've all done that -- but for executing the most aggressive flatulence attack we've ever seen.

For a second, when the player paused infront of the NPC kid, I thought he was going to do a flatulence attack on her.

Just to get this at the top above the needless whining and bashing:
Fable III looks amazing! I can forgive the juvenile flatulence for a great story, gameplay, graphics, and for being something truly special that a lot of other games aren't, besides Nintendo games.

@That Burning Sensation I was truly hoping the player would :D or pick the kid up and run, sell her as a slave later on in the game or raise her in violence so she would be a fearsome warrior who is on my side in a giant ending battle.

I will get downranked, but...I'm really glad Molyneaux decided to show this game. It has made my decision to not purchase it that much easier.

But after how Fable 2 let me down.. I'm not holding out much hope.

Fable II really let Snake down. Snake hopes Fable III will recover from Fable II.

I personally loved Fable 2. There is not much to improve other than the technical flaws and add more variety of weapons and armor to add replay value. Itemization is something games do so little of these days. I hope this changes before Diablo 3 comes out (one of the few non-mmo's to have a focus on itemization).

I really enjoyed Fable 1, despite the fact that it was nothing like what Molyneaux promised. I bought Fable 2 as soon as I got a 360, but was generally not impressed with it, though I thought it was a better game than the original. However, I am not really looking forward to Fable 3. Molyneaux always makes grand promises and always seems to fail to deliver on them, despite the fact that the games he makes are still pretty good, regardless. However, after the personal letdown that was Fable 2 (for me, at least), I don't know if I'll readily spend $60 on the third one.

And people wonder why I keep low expectations (hint: it leads to bigger surprises and less disappointment). Besides that, Peter has a salesman voice and look about him. I honestly don't believe a word he says till I experience it for my self. He tells me "you can do anything!" I tell him to can shut up.

Yeah, the farting thing makes me cringe and wonder why Lionhead Studios think we're a bunch of 12-year olds who love this sort of stuff.

Did you really need to see gameplay to decide that?
According to the inverse law of Molyneaux promise: The more Peter Molyneaux promises his game will be the best ever, the less impressive it will be. As you can see, Fable 1 was a fine game, Fable 2 is worse, and Fable 3 will probably be the worst yet.

I have a hard time taking Molyneaux seriously when, in every successive game release from Fable 1 through 3, the farting interaction has gotten progressively longer, more complex, and more repulsive.

Apparently, you had to have been there, because you can hear people laughing in the background. My guess is they were from the lobotomy convention next door.

It's similar to the way the original Xbox had way better graphics than the PS2 (even though a lot of people don't like to admit that it did). You can thank the year gap between the release of both systems for that because, really, it does make a big difference in terms of hardware.

@Padilla7921 I'm with you. Molyneux seems to have drawn inspiration from the worse aspects of the social networking scene and from iPhone fart apps. Fable 2 had some enjoyable action RPG gameplay wrapped up in some tedious "social" mechanics (making people like my character by dancing and farting? grow up). For the 3rd outing, it seems like the latter will be increased at the expense of the former. No thanks.

@PhilipJWitow don't like it.. don't do it.
It's there, as with all the other emotes, to let *you* act how *you* want to. Just like how you can dress how you want, look how you want, fight how you want and proceed the plot when you want.
Also, it's fable - if there's no farting it's not fable. Remember the first game had you start off as a cheeky chappie, who was meant to be doing that sort of thing anyway.

Yes, but that's no reason for them not to be optimized for the PC just as well. It's all about the coding and PC games are notoriously getting shafted in favor of the consoles.
Money talks, but I'm sure all they'd have to do is spend 25% more money on the PORT JOB (not 25% more of the original budget to make the game from scratch) to make it more than adequate and run well on somewhat older hardware (1 oe 2 old gen cards) for the equivalent 30 FPS and graphic quality of the console version. Then. they'd probably sell more games on the PC platform since it wouldn't have such a bad rap from lazy and cheap companies.

Fable has always had a gesture system of interacting with npcs (peasants, shopkeepers, etc). This gesture system allows you to interact with the people in the game in more or less predictable ways (i.e., dancing and flexing makes people like you, farting, giving the finger, and using "hip thrusts" make people dislike you). I can't help but wonder what "mature" rude gestures you think should replace flatulence.
I think it also bears mention that sometimes its fun to be a bit childish. I mean, as gamers, aren't we all guilty of that in a way?
In GTA, I think its hysterical to pay a taxi driver to haul me across town, just so I can yank him out of the car, shoot him, and take my money back. Sometimes I like to just go postal and shoot everyone and everything until the Feds show up with their assault choppers and fill me with holes. Makes me laugh every time. What about people who record killshots? Teabagging? Trash talk?
The point is, sometimes you have to just let go a little bit and be immature. Otherwise, you're never going to have fun, and honestly, who wants to be around someone who never has fun?

Crysis is actually just very well optimized. The engine it runs on is incredible.
Grand Theft Auto IV on the other hand, is the complete opposite on the PC. Shoddy port job is why it won't run as well. Just because a game doesn't run that well doesn't mean it's more demanding, it may mean the programmers were just lazy. Most of the frame rate improvements on GTA4 actually came from nVidia and ATi improving their drivers.
Anyone can make a game that consumes all of your computer's resources.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power Thats a really great example, however I do not think it should be used to describe Fable 3. There seems to be many new features, destroying the flaws of its predecessor. The loading times alone, especially changing your gear improves this game over Fable 2 by miles.
