@ChopChop908 Nah it gets a pretty hefty amount. Not uncommon though for successful games like these.

It's a fairly easy way to make some money, and I'm sure plenty of people want it. Enginer's already built, just have to build like two new character models tops, add some voices, and add some guns

Mass Effect 1 got crap for DLC in terms of quantity.
Mass Effect 2 has had a lot though, but considering its all mostly weapon, armor, and costume packs, compared to a few actual missions, its not all that impressive, especially when most of those weapon/armor/costume packs are priced.

@DevilSei

What in the wide world of space are you talking about? Most of the costume/weapon packs have been free, whereas most of the paid stuff is mission stuff, much of which has been totally awesome.

Have you ever even played this game?

I'd ask you the same.
The only costume pack released is priced, only thing that was free was the promo armor, the blood dragon if you had dragon age, and the shock gun and firewalker (only because its needed for a piece of paid dlc).

@DevilSei the Cerberus assault armor and shotgun were also free, for the sake of fairness

You can achieve the same effect by turning the difficulty down for free.

@Cal

It was good while it lasted...

And, to be honest, those who got it for free with the new game got a really good value, and for those that bought ME2 used and chose to pay $10 also got a really good value. Still, I'd like to see more CerNet content, but I have no problem paying more money for more Mass Effect.

All these weapon packs are a moot point considering you're able to complete the game pretty easily using the existing weapons.

They're doing this weapon DLC for the wrong entry in the series, too. While it might have been decent in ME1, ME2 rewards accuracy and doesn't even tell you weapon stats. I'm not paying money just for something with different colored muzzle flash.

I'm glad Bioware now has the funding to really make their releases spectacular events, but their EA-mandated DLC milking really sours me on the whole thing (pun not intended) and makes me just want to wait for a GoTY edition.

@onan

You can tell the difference between some weapons, but overall I agree. I'm going to need more than, "hey look! this weapon is awesome!" before I spend money on a weapon pack.

A new Assault Rifle has me intrigued. Not sure if it is worth the (likely) $2/160 MS Point purchase price, though.

I've played through this game twice, but none of the DLC has been worth the money for me to spend. Paying for guns and armor is a bit lame too.

@InvalidRobot

So if you haven't played the story DLC like Overlord, how exactly do you know that it's not worth the cost?

Overlord was one of the best missions in ME2, certainly the best sidemission. It was better than the Jack and Grunt loyalty missions, to name a few.

I also played through twice, and my main issue is that for both of my characters, the story is over. It doesn't make sense to tack on extra missions now. Much as I loved the game, I have no inclination to get any of this stuff.

So how much would it cost to play ALL of Mass Effect 2? All mission and weapons and everything? $100? $200?

@MDV

ME2 is $40,

3 weapon packs is 480 pts,
3 mission packs is 1680 pts

So far we're at $67. Nice try though.

Oh snap, add this weapon pack and it'll be $69 - not including tax.

Mass Effect 2 is $30 (So make that $59!) in USA, according to gamstop.com

But its $40 in Canada. ;)

Nevermind, its 30 in canada now. (Annoys me, I got the game for 40 two weeks ago)

So yeah, the price of an average game and you got every mission and weapon pack released so far (Including this weapon pack, and the shadow broker mission pack)

Brand new, not on sale, the game is 60 USD on consoles and 50 USD on PC, not counting tax and clearly not counting any DLC.

These weapon and costume packs really should be part of the Cerberus Network and offered free to people who bought the game new.

That said, I'm not exactly concerned about missing out on a few weapons. The original game had plenty.

I will continue to buy every story/combat DLC out there, though. Overlord was awesome, Kasumi was entertaining (though too short and Kasumi herself as a squadmember is one dimensional and pointless), and hopefully this Shadow Broker one will tie into the main story by involving Liara and whatnot.

ME2 is probably the best singleplayer story based game I have ever played. I'll continue to buy the good DLC as long as they keep releasing it.

@Verrier Agreed, the item packs would be awesome for Cerberus Network, seems like a missed opportunity too me. Oh well, I'm not missing much.

I'm just hoping Liara isn't a total bitch in this DLC like in the main game.

I just don't have it in me to care about any more weapons or armor. That stuff is pretty much inconsequential compared to more story driven content. I'll hold out for the Shadow Broker DLC.

Thats not also including the fact that the 'special' armor is still an issue in cutscenes. They need to make the helmet optional...seriously. How hard can that be???

@Red Son Rising

You're just now noticing the late news?

There are some stories they post so late that the story becomes untrue or irrelevant by the time they get the news out! Them being late is nothing new.

You know what though? I don't care if they take a day or even a week to post stories because they usually do it with such hilarity and flair that I can't help but love them. They make their articles worth reading.

How is having to reload an upgrade in mass effect 2 in comparison to unlimited ammo in mass effect 1? That's what I want to known. And we went from running really fast to speed walking, how? Is my understanding in the idea of advancement somehow wrong or were they trying to please the shooter fans just a tad bit too much.
