Free Realms offering lifetime memberships for $30
16
Listen here, you Free Realms freeloader, you. If you've been thinking about throwing some money at Sony Online Entertainment's MMO to get the full experience the game has to offer, you can now get a lifetime membership to the game for a one-time lump sum of $30.
The lifetime subscription gives players access to a range of different character classes, a new player housing unit, monthly "reward packs," unlockable "members only items" and gives players a discount on all in-game and microtransaction items. If that tickles your fancy, or the fancy of a beloved, younger family member, act quick -- the lifetime membership will only be available at this price until August 2.

not only that, but paying for a lifetime membership! to something you can log into and buy stuff with real cash with free membership anyways? so you get a membership discount? pretty confusing.
I suppose now would be a good time to open up a store for medals and degrees - with a membership fee!

A lot easier to swallow than 250 for Star Trek, though I imagine the appeal is proportional.

I don't know... While I haven't played Free Realms, I have played several SOE MMOs and the STO demo... I'd have to say it's a pretty good bet I'd probably rather play FR. Yeah, it probably sucks, but it HAS to be better than the track-wreck that is STO.

I need to look into this my son plays this but on free loader mode. And now my daughter wants to play. So here is the question can you have more than one character on an account. Since they don't play at the same time It might be worth it to do this for us.

I am sure that members already spend more on items because many of them requires a membership. A $30 lifetime membership is relatively cheap and will get the "I already spent $5 on this game this month" thought out of players heads. After a month or two people won't even think about the $30 they dropped on this game and will think "Cool this mount is only $4" or "That hat is pretty sweet and it is only a buck." This is genius. I am sure SOE will see a huge boost in $$$.

This is actually a pretty solid MMO, the appeal kids is a huge part of it but its worthwhile to check out even if you're a MMO vet
