Look, considering Nintendo drew just about every one of its big guns from their respective holsters when it revealed the 3DS lineup during an E3 press conference last month, we don't blame you if this story doesn't thrill you to your core. The company recently filed a set of trademarks relating to software for the three-dimensional device, including "CrossPass," "CrossPass Network," "CrossPass Connection" and "CrossPass Mode." It seems the handheld's always-on Tag mode has been given a much more Google-able moniker.
Nintendo also filed trademarks for "3D Paddleball," "3D Hopper," "Target Shooting" and "3D Challenge" -- all of which were available in tech demo form at E3. Does this mean they could see the light of day when the 3DS gets released next spring? We're not sure, but we wouldn't mind sinking a few more hours mastering the subtleties of Hallway Pong.

Crosspass?
Sounds like Nintendo are finally creating a decent internet service for playing games online.

They should release the 3DS with a couple of these little tech games (like the very cool paddle ball demo I read about that uses the cameras) already installed on the system. I'm really excited to get my hands on this thing and see just how it works/looks.

Yeah the blue one is real nice, I'll probably get it in that as well.
Unless Nintendo screw Europe over and only initially release the black and white.

3DS...
I really hope the system still gets a lot of sprite based games, just like the Nintendo DS.
By the way... did you guys see the new SFIV 3DS pictures? The style is now similar to the HD versions.

I have hope for Nintendo...
But I don't have hope for the DS Games anymore.
They released the DSi less than a year ago!
Now they want to make a new DS?
Hopefully the L and R buttons work on this one.
Since the previous models sort of had issues.

@AeroReaper
The DSi is just a new revision.
DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL are all part of the same generation, just like the PSP-1000, PSP-2000, PSP-3000 and PSP Go are all part of the same generation.
The Nintendo 3DS is the next generation... it's a completely new system.

They should put a GPS in there, it could allow for some pretty neat games.
All of this is cool, but I mostly want to know how much money I should be saving for the thing.
That and a real commitment that my DSiware won't be totally useless on it. They've said DSi cartridge games will work, but last I heard they wouldn't commit to DSiware.

I demand that Virtual Boy Wario Land be remade for the 3DS.
If you have spare time, Mario Clash would be okay too.

You do know Reggie was wrong, right?
The 3DS is suppose to come out 3 months earlier than what Reggie was aware of. Or, more simply, a 2010 release.
