*sigh* I would be playing this if the lag for me on this game in particular wasn't so nasty down here in New Zealand... such a shame, the game's alot of fun. I don't lag when on XBL (hint, hint Cryptic)

@Halwende

From what I remember reading on Joystiq, most companies can't afford to host servers in Australia in New Zealand due to the absurd prices the local telecom monopolies charge for bandwidth. The closest location with prices near the rest of the world is Singapore.

I wonder if the trial code I got at Del Taco some months ago is still good..

$20 seems like a perfect price for this game. It'll fill me in for a month (That's when I get SCII)

You've almost convinced me, Cryptic. Almost. Give me a new processor, and I'll play your game.

So has the game evolved any since the open beta? I remember constant flying in circles around enemy ships so I could optimize my rear/front phaser batteries. It was pretty and it sounded nice, but it was not fun after the 20th space battle or so (which happened pretty quick, since there wasn't much else to do).

@sigma8

It's changed a TON. They've done some epic polishing and add-ons. Space battles can still resort to just flying in circles if you try to optimize like that, but they added in a ton of non-combat missions too.

I was an early life subscriber because I'm a Trek nut, and had buyer's remorse after I hit the cap and didn't know anyone else that played to raid with. But the solo missions still give you plenty of stuff to nerd out on, and with all the bugs they've fixed it's actually a fairly good MMO in its own right now.

@greycobalt Hmmm, that's what I've been waiting to hear. Anyone else second this opinion so I can be totally convinced?

@whatnewmobilecom

I can confirm this... I was unsubscribed for like two months and got back on earlier this month and things run very nice now. It's solid. I'm getting all my buddies to join up too.

There's a demo so you can give it a run:
