Sorry, sorry, we know we should have gotten this up earlier, but even after all these years, Toys R Us' delicious "buy 1, get 1 50% off" sales knock us out. The sale includes all video games except PC games and pre-orders, so don't think you're getting clever by purchasing Fable 3 and Halo: Reach in full now.
This sale only comes around a few times a year, so it's always good to pounce on it if you've been saving your nickels (idiom inflation). Oh, yes, and because it comes up every time: if two games have different values, the discount is applied to the game that costs less.

@Genaldar I'm sorry I insulted your best friend joystiq. They get paid for what they do. When they replace all of their "professional" staff with volunteers feel free to cut them some slack. Until then, hold them to task or you're encouraging them to continue failing. If you want Joystiq to suck, please keep blindly defending them. The rest of us will just leave.

@RadiantViper Apparently your reading comprehension skills are lacking. I didn't say I was leaving, I will paraphrase myself for you. If Joystiq doesn't get their shit together then those of us who care about timeliness and quality will leave the site to you idiots who blindly defend a blog you owe nothing too. Everyone should want quality, but I guess not.

@Genaldar In you want an actual reply, here goes. First of all, stop being a douchebag. Second, I somewhat agree with you about Joystiq being slow, but the difference is I go into the comments and start whining and bitching like you do. Third, I am not an idiot who blindly defends the site, saying things like that makes you sound like an overreacting moron. Stop being such an asshole, no one here gives a shit what you think if you post it like that.

While you have a point that yes, they're being paid for it, it's pretty irrelevant since not of that money actually comes from you, or any other readers for that matter. The Joystiq writers are awesome enough to try to keep up with a very fast-moving industry, providing us with free news, images, downloads, deals, and other updates, and yet there's still ungrateful people like you who feel like they need to complain about it and that they somehow owe you something in return.
We're not blindly defending them any more than you're thoughtlessly (and selfishly) attacking them.

Joystiq apologizes about not posting ever news related game ever. No, but seriously, if you knew this 3 days ago, why would you care if it made it's way to Joystiq?

Normally, I would love these kinds of deals. Lately, however, I've discovered the world of Amazon. I can buy two new games there and save even more money.

@Khazidhea The new games are still $60 and catalog titles are pretty much the same as everywhere else. Granted, their definition of how long games count as new is different from mine or yours. But thats because they're trying to squeeze parents who don't know any better.

This is a problem with some stores. This can be complicated by some unfair store managers ignoring the big picture and keeping the prices too unreasonable. There are some great managers out there. I know this because I made out like a bandit at my local TRUs.
Red Faction: Guerrilla (PS3) $ 9.99 / $4.98
Katamari Forever (PS3) $9.99
&-and-&
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS) $9.99 / $4.98
Fat Princess: Fist full of Cake (PSP) $10.98
$32.48 total for four games.

Way to avoid the Starcraft 2 bullet, T.r.Us... I think I'll look into Kmart's $20 thing. It's only $20 (versus a potential, likely $30 discount from halving a game's price), but I think it's generic store credit, so I can use it to buy some extra pairs of socks and underwear to replace all the laundry I won't be doing while absorbed in the game.

If you think about it, it's a "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" sale too, just phrased differently. I wonder which consumers latch onto more.

@ch3burashka:
The maximum discount from this sale is 25% off. Only if you buy two items at the same price point.
A "Buy 2 get 1 free" sale has only a maximum discount of 33%, again only if every item is the same price.
A "Buy 3 get 1 free" is not the same thing as above, because first you have to have 4 items you want to buy. Secondly all the items have to be the same price, and only one item is discounted. If you don't have $180 to spend you really can't make much of that sale (if your a X360 or PS3).
So while the maximum discount is smaller, the price to get the most from the sale items is less costly. One of the best ways to go with this kind of sale is to target the discounted items, and get 4 or 6 games for the price of one or two. Or go all out, and buy two new full price titles of the same value.

I remember the last sale. It went horrible for me, I picked both bayonetta and darksiders on 360, I got darksiders but 360 bayonetta was never in stock. So for two weeks had to deal with customer servie I finally said to
just send me the ps3 version once I got it, I returned it to walmart and got
the 360 version. Besides all that these sales are usually pretty good.

Last time they had one of these sales, I wanted to get a games that were coming out about 2 weeks after the sale. So I just bought some random games that were 60$, then went back 2 weeks later and exchanged them for the new ones. I just told them they were presents for my nephew but it turned out he already had the games. Note that, of course, they had to be sealed.

As someone who worked toys r us customer service for three years, let me just say to everyone, we don't care why you are returning it, as long as you follow the rules and have your receipt, and in the case of games, like you said, that they are sealed.
One of the most annoying things about being at customer service all day is listening to people make excuses like this
And that's my rant....

The few times I've checked out these sales at my local ToysRUs, I've noticed many of the games being sold at full price ( as if they were brand new 59.99 ) despite being severely dated and marked down heavily at other stores. What good is it saving 50 % when they make up the difference with over pricing?
