It's a winter murderland as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 deploys VIP Map Pack 5 on Xbox 360 and PS3 today. The snow will turn crimson on White Pass in Rush mode, and on Nelson Bay in Conquest. Check out the trailer after the break.
The VIP map packs are free for those who bought the game new, a VIP pass can also be purchased on the Xbox Marketplace for 1200 MS Points ($15).

No it is NOT better. At least Activision releases new maps.
If DICE released some actual NEW, quality maps, I would easily pay $15 for some. But instead they give us this bullshit excuse for DLC that should have already been part of the game from day one.

Their not charging $15 for the maps, their free. Their charging $15 for the people who bought the game used but still want the DLC for those who bought it new(and gave more money to the devs and publisher). and you obviously don't even have the game otherwise you would know that their are actually good maps, so stop trying to justify the fact that you cant afford both top FPS's and much less at the full retail price.

umm, wow, overreaction much? people who are wild about the game also say that the packs are weak. just because he said that too doesn't mean he doesn't have the game. and implying that he's poor... classy.

Wow, you're a really ungrateful bastard. These maps are good. And having the other maps to play rush/conquest on is just as good. Some of these even feel like new maps. If you want new new maps then go fork over $15 a pop for some MW2 maps.
It's free, so I say you either shut it or find another game that gives you free new maps/dlc that is as good as BC2

You guys need to actually play these maps before jumping to assumptions that I'm wrong. I mentioned a few posts below, they're the most unbalanced maps I've ever played. Here's an in-depth review of these maps if youre so curious.

And ungrateful? Oh yes, I am so ungrateful that DICE held these maps back from release only to spoon-feed to us 5 months later. They're only FREE because they should have been in the game originally.
DICE held them back purposely to make it seem like they were giving away free DLC, and you fell for their gimmick.

This is the worst "map pack" yet, easily.
White Pass Rush is an unbalanced mess. Four out of the six MCOMs are in destroyable buildings, making Defending almost impossible.
Nelson Bay CQ is unbalanced too, the RU team needs to parachute in so the US team always gets their 2 flags first, and it's just bland. There are no vehicles, which is what Conquest has always been about in Battlefield. Pathetic DICE.

Agreed they have pretty much locked content away on the disc and instead of having it unlocked from day 1. This is complete b.s....

I feel the same. BF never felt right from the start to me (even though I LOVE navigating vehicles). I have always preferred the 'run and gun' style of MoH/CoD (even though I don't generally run and gun) :P

Nope, still not upset that I sold this game. I spent more time with the online mode than any other multiplayer game in my entire life except StarCraft, and it was definitely worth my time, but stuff like this isn't gonna get me back into it.
Good thing I'm a VIP, though, so if I ever do go back I can "get" these "maps" asap.

@(Unverified) Same, sold my game and this fake map packs don't make me regret it at all. Might pick it up again if they put out some worthwhile DLC.

Yeah, once they started releasing paid content, I traded in my game. DLC just splits the community and the lack of new maps certainly doesn't help re-playability.

The fact that you have to pay $15 if you buy it used is unfair and greedy on dices part , but the maps are very fun and i really enjoy the game. As for new maps , well the small matter of battlefield bad company 2 vietnam may satisfy peoples need for new maps.

That would be EA's fault not Dice's.

Still shoving out the same dribble that they always do; the same maps just with a different game mode.

You area blind naive fool if you cant see that they are incrementally releasing the full game and calling it DLC (Disk Locked Content) for the purpose of making money off used sales knowing that they made a crappy game and there would be a lot of traded in second hand copies. They will probably make more off 1 copy of BFBC2 being recycled over and over than from the initial sale.
THE MAPS ARE A LIE!!!!!

Rarely do I read the comments section on posts as I despise the tone of some if not most of the people who make comments. I wish I hadn't read the comments on this post. Just look at the above comments, most of you are rude aggressive idiots. If you don't use this tone when talking to someone in person, why use it in a comments section.

all you nerds need to stop moaning, at the end of the day it's free (as long as you bought the game new) and its better than mw2, so shut your noise.
