HAWX 2 spreads its wings September 7

It's time to kick the tires and light the fires! Actually, September 7 is when you'll be kicking and lighting. That's the release date for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. Wii owners, unfortunately, are grounded until November 7.

In addition to the date (provided to Big Download by Ubi PR), Ubisoft has updated the game's official website (see the "news" page here) with some new I.N.F.O. Unlike the first HAWX, you now have the option to fly at speeds under 1,000 miles per hour. That's ... exciting?

The First Hawx is a good game this won't be a day one buy but i'l buy it at some point. still have yet too get the platinum in the game but i'm slowly climbing my way too the trophy.

@HardBoiled2009 Same here. I'm worried about the onine trophies because I'm not too sure if people are still on there. It has been in my backlog for awhile but should probably get to it soon.

Just got afterburner climax from the psn sale for $5 last week. That game is f'n awesome. Love the arcadey feel to it. Why anyone would pay $60 for a dog fight simulation game is beyond me though...

All this makes me want is another ACE Combat. I played the first HAWX and I hated it. If that weird camera thing (can't remember what it does haven't played it in awhile) wasn't there I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

It turns off the nanny arcade copilot, enabling you to actually pretend to fly the plane, although it's ludicrously unrealistic.

Yeah, it was annoying. Ace Combat was the right mix of arcade and sim for me, which is pretty heavy on the sim side. Consider IL7, a real sim.

hawx was a enjoyable game. ill pick this up

Borrowed HAWX1 for single player, it was... a bit of shit. Low grade summer movie story, whole campaign plays like a tutorial, and one of most anti-climate ending mission ever.

HUD problem: 2 bright white lines ran top and buttom of screen, obscuring vision while serving no function whatsoever. And "1 kill, +100xp" pop up right center of in-game HUD felt stupid. Did they even try for immersion?

Too late for multiplayer, can't find many matches. Was it good?

did I say anti-climate? Should be anticlimactic. I'm neutral on climate issues...

You know, this sounds like it could be a very good Wii game. The PS2's Ace Combat was excellent (still play it on my PS3 all the time), so I know the Wii can pull it off. There are a lot of homes with just a wii, and if this game is good, I will be buying a copy for some family in that situation.

@Dustin F Oh am I jealous of you PS3 owners with the backwards compatability. God knows how many times I've shoved PS2 games into my PS3 slim and hoped for a miracle. I love the PS2 Ace Combat games and Ace Combat 6 was great as well. The PSP ones are even pretty good but HAWX blew by and I am afraid I just could not like it.

Seems like 40% of all comments regarding HAWX is about how much better Ace Combat is. lol. I agree. Looking forward to the PSP Ace Combat (wish it was on 360 / PS3 though!)

HAWX 2... if they make it more like Janes' Fighters Anthology, then I'll check it out.

H.A.W.X was an AWESOME jet combat game! The graphics were fantastic, especially the landscapes. The air battles were engaging and had a very cinematic feel to them. I'm looking forward to the new HAWX, but I hope that they do not tend towards realism at the expense of fun.

Takeoffs and Landings aren't really that important to me, the meat of the game is in the thrill of air combat. I certianly do not want to go through the reality of hours of nothing happening in a typical air patrol mission! :-)

What happened to space sims? I'll be honest I was never a huge fan, but once in a while I enjoyed getting "behind the wheel" of a some frigate or fighter and doing salvage runs or space fortress attacks or something like that. I don't think there were any big name games like that since freespace. Worst part is, with today's computers you could make an absolutely gorgeous space sim game with expansive world, economy, tons of planets and galaxies and characters and so on. (oh and MMOs, like whatchamacallit, don't count)

Being a fan of air combat simulations, I'll definitely get this one. I've enjoyed the first game. I will not compare this with AC6 since they both have their own strength and weaknesses.
