IO Interactive takes us behind the scenes of Kane & Lynch 2
15
Wondering what's changed from the first Kane & Lynch title to the second? The folks at IO Interactive are here to tell you, with a peek behind the scenes of the upcoming sequel. Aside from adding online co-op to the game's main campaign, a mess of other mechanics have been tweaked in the game, apparently to quell issues fans had with the first.
Unfortunately, the issues named are things like "cover system," "aiming and shooting," and "AI," which kind of ... worries us. That said, art director Rasmus Poulsen promises the game is going to be "so visceral, so intense, so in your face, that you're gonna be left without any skin left." So, you know, there's that. Join us behind the scenes just after the break, won't you?

Have you played the demo? It's fantastic, and I don't use that word lightly. I never played the first one, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I had a hard time deleting this from my hard drive because I didn't want to stop playing it.

Well, I can't be alone.
I think this might turn out to be a success for IO. It's original, and over-the-top violent (which is enough for many gamers). Plus the online co-op was very entertaining.

I never played the first one, but I have to say that watching the video makes me want to play this one.
Never judge a sequel by its predecessor, good or bad.

While its presentation was a bit refreshing, the single player portion of the demo felt extremely linear, the in-game graphics looked sub-par, and the AI anything but intelligent.
The "documentary style camera" looked only to really service its poor textures. I feel the real game will just be all this x10.
While I applaud the series for its setting and characters, I feel that IO is going about it wrong. They can just never pull Kane & Lynch games off like they can Hitman or Freedom Fighters. The first game was entertaining, but worth a rent at most (shoddy online experience).

I don't really like the art style of the game. The shaky cam and grainy film just didn't do it for me (and I know steady cam can be turned on). I know it's supposed to be like an amateur cameraman following you, but I want a video game, not a cheap home-made movie.
I really liked the first one, it's a shame they had to (in my opinion) ruin it.
