Sad news for fans of the animated series Metalocalypse, as Siliconera reports that Adult Swim "pulled the license" on Metalocalypse: Dethgame. Originally under development at Frozen Codebase, the beat-'em-up was set to appear on Xbox Live and PSN at the tail-end of 2009, courtesy of Konami. So much for that.
We've followed up with Konami to confirm, but it looks like Dethgame ain't happening. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have a Hatredcopter to board and a target to attack that has nothing to do with this news. Nope, nothing whatsoever.

Considering Brendon Small's attachment to his projects, I'd have to assume the license was pulled because they felt the game was looking like crap. In which case, it's probably better off this way. Or it could just be that they wanted to develop such a game themselves, since Titmouse started that gaming branch.

@jrr Titmouse opened a game studio.
This may be tied to that, although if so it'd be at least two years out.

It was probably canceled because Frozen was doing c-c-c-c-c-cocaine.

I saw some footage online for the game a while back and it looked horrible. I really think this was a good move if the game was really that bad instead of releasing it as a cash grab. However, I'd really like to see an xbla/psn Dethklok game. I just hope they don't try to resurrect this game and, like, sew it back together wrong.

..ya know....if that was done right....it could be awesome.
Intentionally I mean, a parody on itself, a game that was a evil, horrible, twisted, shadow of its former self sent to mock everyone and raise the dead etc etc.. Thinking something like "Comix Zone" but *way* more violent.
...just sayin'.

Oh, ok, I thought it ended already. Is there any news on the 2nd half starting up again?

I don't know why you guys are directing your hate toward Konami. Adult Swim is the one that pulled the licence. "The story is Adult Swim pulled the license and axed the title." from the cited post at Siliconera. Konami had nothing to do with it's cancellation.
