StarCraft 2 features 'Lost Viking' arcade mini-game
26
We've seen reports from a number of day-one strategists who've already sunk a few hours into the single-player campaign of StarCraft 2, all hinting at the existence of an in-game homage to one of Blizzard's earlier franchises: The Lost Vikings. Said cameo comes in the form of a Lost Viking arcade machine located on protagonist Jim Raynor's ship, the Hyperion -- though the puzzle-platforming of the original title has been swapped out for a much more thematically appropriate top-down shoot-em-up.
Check out some footage of the shooter just past the jump -- or, if you'd like to try your hand at guiding your poor, misplaced Viking-ship home, just pop down to the Hyperion Cantina with a pocket full of future-quarters.

LBP doesn't have half the textures this game does. To run it on full you need a 1GB video card.

You would be suprised at the level of detail in the game. Zoom in on the units and you can see all kinds of detail. That minigame uses the full models from a fixed position.

Can't we just agree that they both have great editors?

As opposed to what? Make custom textures for a game meant to showoff the editor?

You are also not getting that this is not a console game. The loading time is the loading time for that person's pc. It can be faster. I can tell you in the beta I waited for people with slower systems to load.

Wow, that's an ordinary as heck game. Not worth the joystiq hype.
However it is kinda funny the best shooter on the Mac might be one in a bonus game!

It's funny how this is all over the news, but it's been known about for the past two BlizzCon's.

I'm probably getting this game, but I want second opinions. Anyone play it yet, do they like it?

The pile of ruined pants in my room may give you a good answer.
If you want a better one, it's very good in both single player and multiplayer, but you definitely want it for both. The single-player is also decently lengthy, unless you somehow beat each mission in just a couple minutes and skip all the dialog and cutscenes. Tons of achievements too, if you care. Custom maps galore already, which is what Lost Vikings actually is. Great sounds, graphics.
It's a good game. Unless you like overly complex RTS games, that is.

When I first glanced over the main page the words "lost viking" caught my eye and I hoped for a brief moment this could be a HD remake of some sorts of "The Lost Vikings"...
Man I loved that game.

I actually really enjoyed the mini-game. It's better then most of the SHMUPS that are on Arcade or in the PSN store. Really fun.
