Worms Reloaded tunneling 'exclusively' to PC on August 26
16
Lordy! Another Worms game already? That seems to be the case, as UK dev house Team17 just revealed a solid release date for Worms Reloaded -- August 26 -- and even handed over a rather wormey trailer, found just after the break.Beyond the usual campaign and multiplayer, Team17 is promising a full-on level creator and two new modes: Warzone Campaign and Bodycount. And though the single-player campaign and weapons won't be dramatically different from Worms 2: Armageddon (Reloaded is an "extension" of that title), the game will offer some new campaign missions and "45+ weapons spanning the entire Worms series." Also, hey, if you pre-purchase the game on Steam, there's a 10 percent discount (from $19.99 to $17.99), 24-hour early access to the game, and "exclusive in-game items." Don't let yourself get ... uh ... wormed out of a good deal.

I remember when Team17 seemed like such an exciting development house waaay back in the day. Seems like they never really got beyond the Worms franchise though.

Yeah, they used to put out all these great franchises back in the day. I loved the oldschool Alien Breed and Superfrog titles...

you can´t be more right dude, I still remember the old amiga times when every game that team 17 released was original and fun, but now that i see those games again ican say that they didn´t survive the test of time and i even see that most of them were pretty average. There are a lot of games from the amiga times that are still great games but team 17 titles are not one of them. And now after all this years they are less original than ever by making nothing but worms games, they should put a statue of andy davidson ( worms creator) right outside their offices, without him i don´t know what team 17 will be doing right now, well i know.... larry 9..... now that i think about it it´s better for them to stay with worms, at least this one is for p.c..... and it´s new...i mean... it has some new stuff....i guess.....

This better be good, Team 17.
Fool me 24 times, shame on you, fool me again... AND I'LL RIP YOUR FREAKING HEARTS OUT. STOP MURDERING MY FAVOURITE SERIES.
This might be the only game series that devolves over time instead of evolving and gets less features and options with every release. Most recent releases (especially Worms on XBLA) were incredibly rushed and bare-bones...

I stopped buying when they started doing the Madden thing of near yearly releases with content actually yanked out. They've yet to release a worms game as good as 2 or Armageddon (2 for the crazy amount of customization options, Armageddon for the engine, aesthetics, weapons, and ability to set custom team sizes (for a one against many scenario or tunneling strategery).

I miss the deep weapon editor from Worms 2. I've played some worms since, but not for very long. I keep going back to Worms 2.
Speaking of going back to something, I still have the original Worms CD around somewhere.

It won't be as good as Armageddon. It might come close, but I just don't see them making another Worms game with as many options as that game had. I ESPECIALLY don't see them putting the effort into the campaign that they put into Armageddon's campaign. That was a huge reason why I liked that game so much! There were a lot of really creative missions, that not only took skill, but a lot of thought. They were like puzzles.
Having said all of that, I'll be buying this version, because it will be the only version my friends will ever install at this point and be totally willing to play online with. The Steam support certainly helps the replayability.

Oh, Worms. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
For your gorgeous animation and satisfying explosions, I love you.
For your pitch-perfect voice acting, I love you.
For your satisfying sense of physics and friction, I love you.
For your smooth weapon-feel - the videogame equivalent of mouth-feel - I love you.
And for all of the little nuances inbetween. I love you, Worms.
Too bad all that was stripped from every Worms game post-Armageddon.

The series has kinda gone backwards in the last 6 or 7 years. I like World Party for the Mission Editor, but for my money, it doesn't get any better than Worms 2. Nothing is funnier than killing people online with a secretly-deadly Prod.

It just seems weird that they keep releasing the same game over and over again. I mean sure they have their subtle differences, but I was playing Armageddon when I was a freshman in high school. ... So roughly 12 years ago. I'm not saying make something new.... I'm just saying enough is enough.

for team 17 that would be like getting out of the industry, the last time they tried something new they gave us that AWFUL larry game. originality is not something that they can do, at least not anymore........
