Halo: Reach achievements revealed, Forge showcased

Bungie's previously teased achievements for Halo: Reach's have finally been revealed through its latest update. 49 achievements can be earned across the campaign, multiplayer and firefight. We've dropped them after the break.

If that weren't enough, there's a whole mess of new Bungie-created Forge maps on display. The update says they won't necessarily make it into multiplayer matchmaking, but if they pass "the same rigors our expertly crafted multiplayer spaces demandm" we could be sticky-grenading people's faces on those maps when the game ships this September. Ha-cha!

Somewhat surprised (but pleased!) that there are so few general multiplayer cheevos. Means there won't be so many people grinding them instead of you know PLAYING THE GAME.

Good sense of humor to some of the titles too.

Hmm, those achievements seem a little too easy. I was hoping for something more of a challenge.

A campaign that predates the events of Halo: Combat Evolved? A survival mode that pits you and three of your best buds against impossible odds? A much improved map editor?! The return of frickin' Ascension and Blood Gultch?!

September 14th can't come soon enough. :D

@Obelix the Gaul you know what Ascension means, don't you? i can Tower of Power again! ah, to relive the H2 days.

i doubt this'll happen, but i'd love if they did a map pack of just remakes. Sanctuary is my favorite map ever, and Turf, Relic, Hang 'em High, and others were awesome.

I remember seeing in a recent "Vidoc" about Forge where the developers mentioned that they would be adding some of the best user-made maps to the online playlist. So...if you make it good enough, who knows? Maybe your dreams will become reality.

I don't know how anyone who's seen Bungie's Forge World ViDoc could be left unsatisfied. The map and the Forge 2.0 system is AMAZING. Many of the multiplayer maps that will come pre-loaded on Reach's disc will have even been built with the same forge tools we're being given.

oh wow, must say I haven't been following reach that much. Kinda got bored with Halo 3.
But Bungie is actually doing what I want them to do, very cool.

@24hourpartypal - A full map editor is impossible with the limitations of a console. They have to be extremely prudent with exactly how much geometry/textures/etc are going into a map, and if they allowed too much, it would crash the system (or run at a terrible frame rate). There would be no way to properly manage that if the creator was allowed to deform/reform geometry, add new textures, and do all of the other things that are possible in a map editor on the PC.

Forge world exceeds my expectations. It's probably the pinnacle of what you can do in terms of allowing for map customization on the consoles. The vehicle races from the viddoc remind me a lot of what modders came up with in Unreal Tournament 2K3 and 2K4 in a "real map editor".

meant more of a map editor like in FC2, and this one actually comes close. Only thing I miss is a way to edit the terrain...

@24hourpartypal - Oh, I see what you mean. I thought you meant a full editor that allowed for custom textures and such. The way forge world is setup though, you can customize the geometry by having structures jut out from the wall (as seen in the jetpack level). It's not full geometry deformation, but it's a start.

Number 40 is a very scary Achievement.

You only need to survive a Firefight set on Legendary without dying. In 4-player co-op it will be pretty easy, just have everyone else do all the work while you hide.

For a minute I got Gears 3 and Reach features mixed up. I thought it would have been a achievement for using the "new" swap weapons with someone feature, but that's in Gears...

The not so realism of this game ? Yeah thats what I am excited for...

@Picard if you're being serious, that is actually one of the major reasons i love halo. the way i see it Halo has three levels of gameplay: 1) high-level strategy, such as moving around the map. 2) firefight tactics, meaning stuff you do while you and another guy are shooting at one another. this could be ducking into a doorway, jumping up do a landing, etc. 3) low-level skill, basically how good you are at aiming and timing.

with games like MW2, you lose that second aspect of gameplay. some people enjoy that more, and that's fine, but i like Halo more.

The achievements for the campaign are all named after quotes from the main Halo trilogy. I like that.

@Mithrandir the ones fore the missions, yeah. i think the rest are quotes from Red vs Blue (which is hilarious, if you haven't seen it).

Quite pleased with these achievements. Enough to keep you going, but none that really screw over those who don't like multiplayer, and no stupidly impossible - only ontainable by boosting achievements.

Some of these will still require some effort, especially the ones that involve completing the daily / weekly challenges.

Probably wrong, but is "24 - Doctor, Doctor" a reference to "Check It Out With Steve Brule"? It has a segment titled "Doctor to Doctor" that the announcer says as "Doctor Doctor". I love Steve Brule, so I'm going to assume that's the reference whether it's true or not.

Forge World and Forge 2.0, hell yes. Looks 100x more versatile and user-friendly than H3 Forge, which I couldn't stand.
