Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is finally havin' a Summah

It seems that, at least for the moment, the temperature has cooled to something below its "melt everything" setting and we can finally -- finally! -- have ourselves a Summah! What's that? You're scared to have a Summah? Don't be crazy! Let the yucks linked below warm you up before getting out of that recycled air and to the boardwalk. Afraid you'll get splinters? Grab a pair of sandals! Have a Summah! Worried you'll get side-splints from the hilarious comics? Oh, well, we've got nothing for you there.

I went with Brawl in the Family, the randomness worked in this case.

xkcd was good, but i swear i've seen that somewhere else before. Robot Chicken maybe?

@Mr Khan Yeah, Robot Chicken did a joke just like the one for xkcd. Though the punchline was a wee different with hundreds of frogs crossing right after the huge accident.

I went with XKCD considering that Randall is pretty consistent.

I went with Virtual Shackles on this one. To me, nothing is funnier then something that's a pure copy of the truth, slightly exaggerated.

I have yet to see a funny one with the exception of the mario god lakitu one. That one I can get behind. But the rest are just...meh. No laughs to be had. No insights to be gleamed. No tears to be shed.

I applaud the creators of BitF for trying and actually entertaining people here. I'm just not one of them.

This weeks BitF was terrible. And personally, i find that most of the comics picked from BitF are pretty bad, but they have some gold ones that the WWW seems to skip over. i've looked over the site, and I actually like a lot of the comics.

BitF falls flat a lot of the time, but at least they put a lot of effort into the art and getting it out on a regular schedule

When I look at this week's AVW comic I can't help but say "guilty".

I'm going to be frank with you:

Please accept that some people don't find it funny to take jokes that have already been made and remove the punchline. Still, it's funnier than when he doesn't; he's really hit a low point recently. I haven't even smiled at one of his comics in the last year or so. I stopped reading a few months ago, it just wasn't worth my time. I think the last straw was when he turned his only good character, hat guy (ripped off from the excellent webcomic "Men In Hats"), into a wuss.

On another note, Awkward Zombie managed to be kind of funny despite me not playing WoW in years. I think it'll get my vote this time, a pretty dull week overall.

BitF has been terrible lately. Virtual Shackles this week.

I'm surprised to see the Frogger one winning. Isn't this joke just a bit old by a few decades?

Every week i look at this post and every week I see a lot of posts stating which comic they voted for, and nothing more...Isn't that the point of Voting? Why do some people have to tell everyone? I don't care too much, I guess.

xkcd: it was amusing, but not particularly original.
virtual shackles: HURR TOYLIT HOOMURR IS FUNNEH DURR
of noobs and men: somewhat amusing observation, could've bee executed better (cutting off a baby's hands? really?)
brawl in the family: entertaining! maybe it's because the author eschews videogame humour in favour of character-based humour, which he does well. Delightfully cute and whimsical.
digital unrest: JESUS CHRIST HOW UGLY CAN IT GET. CAD is NOT to be used as a style model. At least the joke is, if not amazingly original or funny, timed and executed well.
another videogame webcomic: well drawn, but explained the punchline in the setup i.e terrible execution. I would have had it as: dude a: what is it today? dude b: turkey. a: augh. [walks on a bit, sees turkey review board] a: ooh, turkey. Make it a subtler affair, a quiet remark on gaming culture. It could easily have been done better.
awkward zombie: well drawn, generally well executed, but I don't play WoW, so yeah.

Ultimately, my vote went to BitF. Mostly because most of the competition was (expectedly!) awful.

AT LEAST THEY'RE BETTER THAN CTRL+ALT+DELETE!

I went for BitF too. I thought most of it wasn't too bad personally. Like you said, they all had their faults, but they all had redeeming qualities too.

The only comic that I would disagree with you over is Virtual Shackles. I don't think they were trying to just show the fart as the punchline, but that they were poking fun at Molyneux instead. Mostly at his tendency to talk his games up a lot and then underdeliver (still fine stuff, but he does promise the world...) and at his pride in his extended fart scene. While the rest of us were like WTF, he was probably thinking, "Ahh, this is art."

If you knew that and still thought it was dumb, then fine, I won't pester you further :P

He is making fun of one of the trailers out for Fable 3, it's not like he's making shit up.

I don't know why so many people are voting for XKCD as a car wreck is the first and easiest joke anyone would probably make about Frogger, and I am sure it has been done multiple times (including Robot Chicken).
