Medal of Honor trailer debuts Linkin Park single 'The Catalyst'
87
Hey, Linkin Park slash shooting game fan, you look like you're just about to break. Good thing, then, that nu-metal band Linkin Park and EA have worked out a deal for the first single from forthcoming album "A Thousand Suns" to be featured in a trailer for Medal of Honor, which debuted this morning.
As you might imagine, "The Catalyst" is said to be part of the game's soundtrack. You'll find the trailer embedded after the break, which, oddly, was directed by Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn. Also, it's mostly live-action, so you might not want to bring the kids around to see this one.

Really?, if that is the case they don't even need try very hard, MW is a average game with a lot of publicity and Hype.

Dear EA. Please don't use Linkin Park again. For anything. Ever.

Pretty much sets the tone for the fanbase of this game. Fourteen-year-old angsty teens and fratboys who actually think Linkin Park are (or where ever) good.

Wow. I'm glad to know EA is taking an appropriately serious and mature approach to the topic of a real-life war. Because nothing says serious and mature like Linkin Park.

Hey guys Linkin Park is popular so it's cool to say I hate it now, right?
Just wanted to make sure I'm keeping up with everyone else here.

I honestly do not see how anyone who touched the beta (I don't know if you have) can reasonably say they are "hyped" for Medal of Honor. The game is broken, and is trying to hard to be two games at once: Bad Company and Modern Warfare. More than that it's about 75% of people who agree with that point of view based on what I've read in forums and comments here. This is of course in regards to the multiplayer. The single player could be completely different. and I hope for the sake of anyone who buys this game that it is different....very different.

As if my interest in the game could go any lower. I'm almost compelled to buy every copy I can afford now just so I can protect other people from it by burning very copy of the game in existence. Seriously, if you think this is cool, wake up. EA is playing everyone just like Activision did.

It's a shame EA and Activision feel they have to get once popular music artists to put music in their video games / trailers. Whatever happened to using music to build something up? Featuring Linkin Park or Eminem in your game does nothing to represent the game. In fact it brings my interest in the game down a notch.
Also, what is it it about using FMV in you video game trailer these days? I thought we got away from that by the mid 90's. If your game can't stand on its own graphically, don't bother trying to suck me in with bad video segments that are poorly produced.
Just show me actual game footage with some music that is going to bring me into your game world. Not some poorly produced attempt at a music video to basically advertise the artist and not the game.

I see this as a trend. Celebrity band + video game trailer = popular game? I think not. Plus, it doesn't attract attention to the game, per se, it just embarrasses everyone involved within the gaming industry (gamers, developers, and publishers alike). We don't like to be sold out to stupid childish gimmicks.
Also, if I was to play the online multiplayer of MOH as the Taliban I would continuously commit suicide. Why should we give the terrorists the honor?

I think the best compliment I can give this game is that it was often difficult to tell when the live actors were on screen and when they were using character animations.

Not a big fan of Linkin Park myself, but comments like this annoy me. Certain bands utilize such a wide variety of styles and yet get pinned with a single negative label by ignorant people. Linkin Park does in face have a bit of talent, and a few of their songs are actually quite good.
People really need to stop bashing things that they don't like, just because it's "cool" to hate them.
The song itself was pretty 'meh', but it's not "EPIC FAIL LULZ," even if it is by Linkin Park.

what i want to know is that if this is based off the war in Iraq, and they are not calling it a fictional war, why don't people get pissed at this game? it seems unfair that six days in Fallujah gets crapped on but then this big series decides to do the same thing and it is totally OK!
P.S. if this game is set in a fictional war then i recede my rant.

Was kind of expecting a heavier sound for this game. Shame would of been awesome with Texas Hippie Coalition, Hell yeah, and some heavier like Amorphis, Opeth, Then when it get real intense Some Hate Eternal, Nile something more fitting.. Not freakin Linkin Park they didn't appeal to me when they first came out and still don't .

@SmashPapaya Take my +1s, take them all.
Nile would even sort of fit the setting! (I know, it's not actually Egypt but still)

Didn't really care for it. The music doesn't go with this iimagery/theme at all.
Although it's still not as bad as Infinity Ward and Activision deciding to put Eminem in there crying about why everybody hates him and he's just not hip-hop-- over imagery of a domestic ground war.

Huh. The video was pretty cool and the song was decidedly not standard Linkin Park fare. Very electronic, very unique.
In my opinion, overall this trailed just kicked a bunch of ass.
