God of War: Ghost of Sparta coming Nov. 2 alongside PSP hardware bundle

Your next chance to brutally eviscerate mythological beasts without eliciting the concern of your peers will come on November 2, when Ready at Dawn's second handheld Kratosian adventure, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, hits U.S. store shelves. The PlayStation.Blog mentions the game's arrival as "just in time for the holidays" -- we assume they're talking about Thanksgiving, which, much like God of War's ashy protagonist, places a heavy emphasis on carving.

Also announced were the game's pre-order bonuses, which include PSP and PS3 Themes and Avatars, the game's soundtrack, an in-game "Legionnaire Skin" and a video roundtable of the game's creative directors. In addition, a Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle will launch alongside the game, which comes with a red and black PSP-3000, a copy of the game, a download voucher for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. It is, quite possibly, the most violent thing upon which you could ever spend $199.99.

Out of curiosity, does EVERY new PSP game that isn't either complete crap or hopelessly obscure get its own bundle? Because it sure seems that way.

gatotsu, you're so right. It seems like every single PSP game now comes out with a bundle.

While November is my birth month, and I and GEEKING over the thought of having this, GT5, AND DCUO all released on the same day its like some came and just said "Happy Birthday to the ground" and threw my wallet on the ground.....

GT5 and GoW, along with Crysis 2 somewhere in the holiday season provided that EA doesn't delay it. This holiday season couldn't look any better.

And that's not even including Fallout: New Vegas.. Looks like I won't be giving my family presents anytime soon. ;)

@PlayboyX thats what makes it worse....I was just talking about those 3 games coming out on November 2nd....if I opened it up for the entire "Holiday Season" it would be worse!!

I had my PSP-1000 since launch, and just now bought a new one.

If I had known this bundle was coming, I wouldn't have bought the MGS one. Black and red sounds so, so sexy.

@gatotsu911 you would be surprised....the Japanese it it up the most tho....thats why a lot of custom consoles dont come out in other regions

Me too, but it would make sense to release it that way instead of a voucher. I got a voucher for 2012 with my MGS bundle and downloaded it to my PS3 so I could transfer it some time only to find that the movie is larger than the 2 gig memory stick they gave me. I'm ok with this since I'd rather watch it on my PS3, but it sucks for anyone who really wanted to watch it on the system they just bought.

Who's gonna issue the pre-order bonuses?! Amazon? GameStop?! Who!

I already have the old red Kratos PSP, so is there a point in me buying the new bundle? And I'm definitely pre-ordering!

that sounds like it'll easily be the best bundle yet. red and black sounds gorgeous. I still have the battlefront psp-2000. Still a great console but the nub gets dirty so easily...

Hmm, not sure on this certainly Chains of Olympus is still amongst the more impressive PSP games and the God of War game play formula still holds up pretty well, but man am I ever sick of Kratos at this point.

So no PSP-4000, eh?

Who knows... It could still happen by year's end... This bundle just probably being manufactured now.

If you have a PSPgo you can also get pre-order DLC by just buying the game on PSN the week of it launching.

Uh-oh, guess this is a "careful what you wish for"... Sony finally smartened up about movie downloads that are bigger than the included 2GB memory stick, and instead switched the UMD copy to the movie and the GAME to the download.... meaning that there won't be a ton of pack-in UMD games flooding the used game market......

Also, if you buy the game on PSN (If you have a PSPgo, like me,) within the week of the game launching, you also get the preorder-DLC (soundtrack, interviews, themes and avatar.)

So if you want the preorder goodies but miss out with the UMD version, you can always get it on PSN. Who knows, possibly it will have better loading times too. :D

If you go to the Playstation.Blog and find the post on this, out of the hundreds of comments, 90% of them are PSPgo owners asking if they get pre-order bonuses as well.

It actually sold some, contrary to popular belief.

Kick-Ass UMD?

Why is Sony still wasting plastic and minerals with that useless movie format? I don't have much of a problem with UMD for games but I thought Sony learned their lesson on UMD movies
