StarCraft 2 claims top spot on UK sales charts

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty blitzed the UK charts as if controlled by a well-paid South Korean cyber athlete. According to Chart-Track, the game was not only the first PC exclusive to reach the top of the all formats chart this year, but it outsold the original game's "entire UK lifetime sales" in its first week (one caveat: Chart-Track only accounts for boxed product). The first StarCraft premiered at No. 24 way back in 1998.

As for the rest of the chart, it appears all the top titles just took one step down to make room for StarCraft. Toy Story 3, Red Dead Redemption, Dance on Broadway and Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 now occupy spots two through five, respectively. And in a move that should surprise nobody who follows these charts, Ubisoft's Just Dance stepped it up again and foxtrotted up to sixth place -- that game refuses to leave the top ten arena.

nice, and that doesn't even include digital downloads.

This game is going to be huge, so far its lived up to the hype. A worthy sequel to the original.
There will be lots of competitors out there, to have some kinda of edge you need to be reading guides for this game to understand the new tips and tricks:

this game is definitely living up to the hype. it is an awesome sequel! the campaign is phenomenal and multiplayer will be so intense with new twists blizzard added in.

To be competitive at all, you need a guide with strategies and tactics. A lot of people have an edge cuz of this. its helped me out a ton in competitive play. check it out:

Blizzard and Valve know how to make games sell on PC.

Anyone else? Not so much.

And mainly Blizzard. Team Fortress 2 may have fanatically loyal fanboys, but it doesn't have sales figures the way anything from Blizzard does.

and no EVIl DRM inside it, making tons of money with a pc game, now THIS is they way to show what the p.c. market is really all about, the word blizzard doesn´t sell a thing if the game stinks. hope some other companies can start to see that good games on the pc. SELL with piracy or without it, bad games well... you can always blame pirates ......

Haven't purchased this yet, but fully plan on it. Hopefully soon too so I don't get my butt handed to me online.

It's nice to see a PC game at the top of the charts. I can't wait to pick this up.. I just have other "life expenses" to cope with first. My new PC should play this VERY well :D.

I'll wait till black friday to buy it. If I bought it right now I know I wouldn't play anything else and I have a huge backlog for me to consider spending 60 bucks for it right now.

Yay! Blizzard deserves to be commended for this game. I'm addicted. :( But it's a fantastic game! I just wish I could play other games. :(
