@Shadowbender Desperate? Soundgarden is one of the best (most talented) bands ever, and Chris Cornell was one of the best singers ever.

Problem is, until I hear the new album I don't know if I'll like it.

They should have thrown in Badmotorfinger or Down on the Upside if they wanted me to buy the game because of it.

They both can sod off for all I care. Chris Cornell ruined each and every little bit of respect I had for the man with that Timbaland solo album shitfest.

They can keep this new album and I'll just pretend they aren't together and leave them for what they were; a very decent band from the 90's.

@MystileArmor; Everything I've read about the 'new album' seems to indicate it's just a greatest hits with an unreleased track or two.

@MystileArmor Did you never listen to Audioslave?

Nope, not really. Their debut single was decent, and the song Like A Stone is pretty good, the rest of it I found non-compelling whatsoever.

@MystileArmor Chris is widely regarded in the music industry as having the (or one of the) most dynamic voices ever. No one could do what he could do when he was younger, even Plant. The drummer is sick too, Soundgarden had what it took to be legendary if they hadn't broken up, and I've been patiently awaiting a tour announcement ever since they settled their differences.

Having a good singing voice + awesome drummer =/= good songs.

1) The DLC is not free.

2) What's the point of this album when their last album, "A-Sides" was an even better greatest hits compilation?

To be totally honest this is shaping up to be one of the better setlists they've had in awhile. Certainly more interesting to me than Beatles or Green Day. Seriously, why can I have Prog Hero?

All these cross-media promotions make my head spin. How about I just dump my wallet on your desk and then slit my throat in front of you guys?

Disappointing... Black Rain isn't "new" as in "Soundgarden wrote a new song" but instead "this is an old song that sucked too much to put it on Badmotorfinger."

I was hoping an actual NEW album, or at least a NEW song was coming. Neither is the case.

And here I was, ready to forget about Chris' pussy "Part of Me" crap.

Better this way.

This helps them practice songs for an upcoming tour they likely haven't played in years, and helps rekindle the essence of what they were instead of some watered-down Audioslave succession.

Chris doesn't have the vocal chord power he used to, so they should probably rest on their laurels for a year and make sure the band still works before slandering the Soundgarden name with a half-baked album.

@jsx92 that's true enough. But I heard that Nudedragons show, and Chris did pretty good. Still, I hope they are writing for an album, maybe release it next year or the year after.

I do think this "album" is pointless, though.

@WINterfang No, and note how if anyone comes through and says anything positive it gets grayed out by down-votes.

Pretty typical of the Rock Band crowd, the same people who quit out in the middle of songs and think the charts are "more realistic."

I can't wait to hear them whine about how hard it is to play the six string in October!

Well i'm not to hip for the room and jaded to admit that I am still a fan of Soundgarden and will always like them because of Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. Chris Cornell had a phenomenal voice in his heyday and even though the years have taken their toll on him. Even in his current state he is a pretty damn good musician compared to the auto tune generation of today.

@jsx92 I have run into just as many issues with people quitting mid-song in the GH games. My biggest issue is that there will be *seven* different full-band GH games so far that I can go online with (GHWT, GHM, GHSH, GH5, GHVH, BH, and soon GHWOR), all different, and many of them don't even have people getting online any more. Sure, RB suffers from that a bit too (RB1, RB2, GDRB, TBRB), but if you have exported RB1, GDRB, and LRB, then all you need to load up is RB2 and you have access to nearly all of it (3 songs didn't export from RB1).

So, my choices are to load up RB2 (having access to all of the exports from previous *and* later games to date) and find someone to play. Or, pick a GH at random (usually GH5 at this point seems to be the only one I can find someone online) and only have access to its songs and the *very* limited GHWT/GHSH songs they allowed to export and most of BH. I was hoping that GH would start offering more exports of previous content, and they said numerous times that they were working hard to get more WT/SH songs, but nothing more materialized, and now they seem to have all but given up on exportability of content.

I still can't explain the "RB4LIFE" attitude that some people have. I understand following the "original developers" and your claims of thousands of DLC songs. I get that.

What I don't get, is why you feel RB is "far superior" to GH?

Having played since GH2, with WT being the exception, the GH franchise has been steadily increasing the value for their games, as has RB. But with all of these "new" features that RB has, GH already had!

RB: "Drop in and out", GH5 did it.
RB: "Play with a real instrument", could do this with drums since GH:WT. Plus RB DOESN'T CHART DOUBLE-BASS! This pisses me off to no end. GH does.

So besides the DLC and the ability to play with a guitar, (I play drums, so I couldn't care), what is so enticing about the RB franchise to the point of seething anger towards the GH series?
