@naesf92 actually without cross game voice chat, and other actual added features, i agree. i don't really care about game discounts.

@naesf92 Exactly. I was lightly considering it and then realized that if I lapsed my subscription I'd lose everything I purchased. Weak sauce Sony, I'll keep with your perfectly functional free services.

That is simply not true. You NEVER lose anything you've purchased, just anything that is free.

Well the Obvious choice is PlaystationPlus.

We all know you can't marry your hand. And I should know, I tried once...

All aside I really do love my playstation plus subscription. They do throw a ton of goodies at you. Critter Crunch for free, as well as various other minis and discounted goods on the store really isn't a bad choice.

What's the problem here? Would you rather get everything DAY ONE and then have to wait an entire month like Europe does? They really don't like that.

And then there are the people who think that they can just wait three months to subscribe, then get three months of content all at once.

If I got LBP for free for signing up initially I wouldn't mind. Not that I'm complaining at all. I'm a plus subscriber and love all they offer.

I'm a Plus subscriber and this is fine by me. I can't afford to be buying stuff every week anyway so the discounted prices coming bi-weekly is fine by me. PS Plus is a great service and well worth the $50 for 15 months I paid.

@DWilson8504 Well said, I still don't see the problem here since last year I paid for XBLA and have gotten NOTHING FREE. On the other hand I've still got 13 months of "Plus" left and I've been able to play Wipeout, Critter Crunch, Field Runners, Syphon Filter, etc. Also I love being able to turn on my system and know that updates have been added and new demos to try out.

Don't bother trying to point out the benefits of PSN+ vs XBL. They don't realize that they have sunk $250 into XBL over the last 5 years and they have nothing to show for it except for some online achievements which would not have been possible if they did not buy the ability to play online.

FYI On xbox live for a while now demos have gone to gold subscribers a week before silver subscribers. Each week there has been offers on XBLA content for gold subscribers for 33% or something off of content, and there have been a few services/games that are free but Gold only.

Saying that they have been playing for online gameplay when all the other consoles have got it for free is true, saying they have nothing for there investment is false.

Not play devils advocate, but lets at least get some facts in place before you all start with the flamethrowers

Good thing I am still with Playstation Minus.

I am as big a PS3 fanboy as any, but a 1 hour demo of a game that is 1.5 years old? Really, who the hell cares.

You can buy RF:G for like 10 dollars anywhere now...

I thought the one hour demos would be completely different, kinda like Games on Demand but you get one hour trial before you buy.

Wouldn't his analogy be more akin to your DVR (not one supplied by your cable company) deleting its content if you didn't renew your cable subscription?

I honestly ask this as a PSN- subscriber: Do these free games explicitly state that they are, essentially rentals for the duration of your PSN+ subscription, and not actual purchases?

@(Unverified) I would bet that there is something in writing when one would sign up for PSN+ to state which items are only available during the subscription period. I am not a Plus subsciber at the moment, but even still, as a consumer, I am aware of what I would be buying and the perks involved and their terms. Games are given while a subscriber (like TV shows) and anything purchased is yours to keep forever (maybe like buying a cell phone and still being able to keep it after the plan is cancelled). I'm sure there are better examples for the last one, but my food is ready.

I guess that's not really a big deal as long as it's the same amount of content.

I say as a non-subscriber.

So how do the free games work anyway? Do you get to keep them as long as you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, or do they go away when they expire or whatever from the service?

@Roto13 - When you download the game, they're yours until your subscription ends ... even after they're removed from the PSN+ service (to my knowledge). I think all that happens is that when you download the games, a expiration date [which is when your subscription runs out] is datestamped onto the game.

Free games are "rentals" (I think minis are included too), anything you buy at a discount, games, or dlc, is yours to keep.

I'm not a PSN+ subscriber and I don't think I'll ever be based off of my disappointment with PSN. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but there never seems to be anything good on it. I can find more trailers for PS3 games on the internet than I can find on PSN, not to mention that it always seems like all the interesting games are going to Xbox, not that there aren't interesting games for PSN but it just seems like there are more for Xbox. (sigh) Sometimes I wander around PSN looking for something cool but it always seems like it's few and far between. I'm more than happy to pay for exclusive access but I'm not even seeing that much that I want to access on PSN-.

@crios You're right, you're not looking hard enough because I don't know what interesting games are on XBLA that aren't on PSN with a handful exceptions. Fact is there are plenty of games on PSN that will never be on XBLA which is the exact opposite of what you said. I own both and personally they both have good games, but I would hardly say one is better than the other interms of original content.

You guys do realize that we're not losing out on anything - we're still getting what was promised to us, right? We were promised three free games, and various discounts. They're technically still giving it to us, just at different intervals.

Generally, the beginning of the month gives the three free games. Then, the weeks that follow were generally just a free avatar and a discounted DLC.

I wasn't originally expecting weekly updates. I was expecting a one-month update, so this doesn't irritate me at all.
