D3 putting Yogi Bear game in our pic-a-nic baskets

If you haven't heard about this, we hate to be the ones to have to tell you: there's a live-action/CG Yogi Bear movie on the way, starring Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo. Why are we burdening you with this information? Because D3 Publisher announced a video game based on it, also starring Dan Aykroyd.

Yogi Bear: The Video Game for Wii and DS, coinciding with the movie's holiday release, puts players in the collar and tie of Yogi Bear as he attempts to save Jellystone Park from being shut down. As you navigate through the park you'll be expected, of course, to steal pic-a-nic baskets without drawing the ranger's attention.

D3, a company owned by Namco Bandai, secured an agreement with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the license to this game, which Monkey Bar Games is developing. A lot of companies are working together to make sure you have this Yogi Bear game.

I loved Yogi Bear as a kid. I don't know if I have it in me to care about this anymore though. We'll see.

I love Dan Aykroyd, but I can't see him doing the voice of Yogi Bear,

Oh God, I just thought of Ranger Smith. Who's going to play him? Bet it sucks.

Has a trailer on it, voice is pretty close.. if thats the real movie/trailer/voice

BooBoo's voice is closer than Yogi's.

Doesn't look too terrible, but they could have done a slightly better job on the visuals for both of them.

ive seen the trailer, http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2010/aug/04/yogi-bear-trailer, does look pretty bad, but surprisingly justin timberlake seems much better suited than ackroyd, ranger smith is jd's brother on scrubs

The mixing of real life actors and computer models just doesn't work for me. Tom Cavanagh and TJ Miller I really like though. The blonde woman that is a "whisper talker" (Anna Faris) really sways it towards the "not going to see" side, but maybe a rainy day when it comes to network TV.
As for the game, this should be a hit with the younger audience that Nintendo can definitely pull in.

You know, I was on some rankings site the other day and looked at the upcoming titles for Wii and DS. Seeing this posting along with the previous days experience has left me with this conclusion:

It's no wonder my Wii and DS sit around for long periods of time, unused and collecting dust. Nintendo has pretty much nothing that is targeting me anymore. I'm not even really excited for the first Wii Zelda title.

Talk about feeling like you got left behind at the store, or in this case - being thrown overboard in the big blue ocean.

Today I passed by the very spot where I sat for 8 hours through the freezing night to get my launch day Wii and the Gamecube port of Twilight Princess.

Poor Dan, his career hath fallen hard. Why did Ray decide to voice a CG bear? WHY!? I curse these heavens that allow such a man to fall to such depths!

I'm not sure what is less necessary in the world...

A live action Yogi Bear movie staring Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake or a Wii video game based on a live action Yogi Bear movie staring Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake.

I would definitely go see it if it was Live Action Bears and everything else was CG

...I think the fact its a game based on a movie thats based on a cartoon/whatever else, means it will "suck major YOGI BALLS" far sooner then cause its on the Wii and DS. ;)

So Yogi has to help save Jellystone Park from being shut down, yet goes around stealing the people's food and thus making sure the park gets shut down for safety reasons?

That bear needs some self-control
