Apple's forthcoming Game Center service is alive and well in the latest iOS beta, 4.1 beta 3, and as those beta releases get more frequent, we get closer to the release of this "social gaming network" for iPhones and iPod Touches.
Unfortunately, with beta 3, we now have to further specify precisely which iPhones and iPod Touches will be supported by Game Center. Originally, Game Center was expected to run on the same iPhone / iPod Touch hardware that iOS 4 would run on, which only excluded the original iPhone and original iPod Touch. Now, perhaps in response to user complaints about the how poorly the iPhone 3G and 2nd-gen iPod Touch run on the new OS, those two (far more popular!) devices have also been stripped of Game Center compatibility in the latest beta.
Since this is getting confusing, we'll recap. You can use Game Center when it launches later this year only on one of these products: iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, 3rd-gen iPod Touch ... and that's it.

Game Center can go fly a kite for all I care (and I own an iPhone 3G and don't plan on upgrading)...
But even Joystiq is full of these stupid Apple haters? Is there no end to them? They don't seem to realize that everything they claim to "hate" about Apple and "Apple fanboys" are exactly what they're doing.
They don't seem to realize that people have been hating on Apple like they do for 20+ years now, and that despite all their criticisms Apple does fine and the users enjoy the products for the most part, and that their sentiments are tired, worn out, and honestly, pathetic.
And they certainly don't realize how ignorant and jealous they all look when at the end of every argument comes the "overpriced" grab. It's like listening to a convention of Crotch Rocket riders and people with souped-up Hondas talk crap about Porsches and Harleys, and frankly, it's sad.
Choice is good. No one twisted your arm to buy an Apple computer or iPhone and no one is going to stop because of your diatribes. Just give it a damn rest.

Reall I'm sorry but the ios4 software works fine on my 2g touch and those features that have been denied to my device. With the update can be gotten by jailbreaking and there are really no significant problems that I've exsperienced. So that's bull that my device and others aren't capable of running it .
