Modern Warfare 2 demo finally hits Xbox Live

Seriously though, I fully intend on downloading this demo as it is all that the 4 people left at infinity ward are capable of by themselves...

This seems... late. CoD7 is out soon, and they bring out a demo for CoD6. O_o

It's not COD7 and Modern Warfare 2 wasn't COD6. If you numbered them like that Modern Warfare 2 would be COD8 or something like that.

It really doesn't matter. When people say "Which COD" I just say either 4, World at War, or MW2. Considering that's all people play these days....

I haven't played it either but only because I am forever trying to keep up with my backlog of games. I'll get to MW2 eventually although the convenience of a demo may cause the game to rocket to the top of my list.

Incidentally, I am insulted that I was not included in Joystiq's mailing list...

Yeah, your "boycott" is hurting Activision so much. Seriously, you're missing out on a great game.

@Dr I'm part of the Activision boycott as well, but the West and Zamp incident happened after the release of MW2. It's a great game and downloading the demo won't give Activision any money.

@Dr, I used to be in the "haven't played it and don't plan on it" boat as well.

I'm a Halo fanboy and used to play Halo 3 all the time. Then the Halo: Reach beta started. Once it was over, I just couldn't get back into Halo 3 no matter how hard I tried. I needed a new FPS to hold me over until Reach would actually be released, so I picked up MW2. I made it about half way through the game, but it just lacks so much of the glorious goodness that draws me to the Halo franchise.

Maybe they'd be a little more enjoyable to me if Activision would spend 2-3 years polishing, testing, and improving the CoD games in between releases instead of birthing a new one every year. Hey, it works for Bungie.

And yes, I know my comments aren't fair, logical, or unbiased, but it's how my Halo oriented brain works.

IW decides to bring out a demo 9 months after the game releases?

If people didn't want to buy the game before I highly doubt this will increase sales if any.

I don't buy games unless I try a demo. They didn't give me a demo before or during launch. So I didn't buy. Giving me a demo 9 months after the game has been out has put me on the "Will Never Buy" list no matter how good the game might be.

Same goes for Mass Effect

I think it came out yesterday. I usually check the demo section on PSN every Tuesday. It was this snow level sneaking mission. Never really played a COD game before. It seemed fun to me. Don't know what all the hate is about...

@Grey CoD4 only started getting hate recently that is misplaced from MW2, but MW2's issues stem from the terrible inconsistent story and the overhaul to multiplayer which took a gritty predecessor and turned it into a Michael Bay film.

The way it was treated like an insignificant footnote in this story made me wonder if it had been out longer than that. =P

I enjoyed it myself. Bought the Limited Edition that came with steel book, other stuff, and CoD Classic. Spent about a week or more play time, was worth it for me.

The release of the PSN demo was covered in our PSN Tuesday post on ... Tuesday. The demo was released on Wednesday for XBL, hence the separate post and the footnote for anyone that missed the PSN news.

Haven't played a CoD since three, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

@Courtney Same here. I played 3 briefly, but it was not as enjoyable as 2 was. After that I lost interest... especially seeing the way Activision has been behaving recently.

You're missing out on COD4 man, that game's campaign was INCREDIBLE! Nothing new really... But the way it was put together and all the set pieces made it amazing. MW2's campaign was super fun as well, as long as you didn't try to actually pay attention to what was going on.

I haven't ever touched COD4, I haven't ever touched MW2. I have neither interest nor intention to try it out either.

CoD4 was almost a perfect FPS, don't lump it in with MW2, and don't act like you are somehow better than the millions that bought either for acting closed-minded.

I never really said it was or wasn't a good game, just that I haven't ever played it or have any interest to play it.
