True Crime: Hong Kong delayed until 2011

Activision's recently released Q2 2011 investor's report contains a bit of bad news for United Front Games' upcoming reboot of the True Crime franchise -- or good news, depending on how you look at it. The game -- now referred to as True Crime: Hong Kong -- has had its somewhat ambiguous fall 2010 release window pushed to an even more ambiguous 2011 launch, which Activision hopes will "give the development team more time to deliver the high-quality entertainment experience they envision for the game."

We normally can't help but scoff when publishers give this excuse when pushing back the release of one of their titles, but in this case, we'll let it slide. We're not sure if you've heard, but Hong Kong is ... um, kind of big.

Never been a fan of true crime. :/

@Faenix I have yet to try one but was really looking forward to this. I still am, though, because I think games like this benefit the most from a delay (open world vs linear).

i thought NYC was awesome, i played that game out, i loved going out in the police uniform and patrolling the streets.

True Crimes Streets of NY was the lamest shit I ever put in my PS2,
bad driving physics, horrible A.I., repetitive missions, nothing could save that game, not even Redman.

True Crime Streets of LA was awesome. I remember neither my friend or I could beat this one timed driving mission. I looked it up on google maps or mapquest (not sure if google maps was around then) and found the real directions online. I told my friend the directions while he drove the mission and it was easy to beat. Very slick stuff. Snoop Dogg was also awesome in that game.

TC: NY sucked on the Xbox. It's FPS was all over the place and made the game unplayable. Glad my friend bought it and I didn't.

god.. damnit. It was supposed to come out in September, and then delayed til November and now 2011? I was really looking forward to this, despite the bugs I really enjoyed the first two True Crimes(the second one especially) and seeing as it's United Front Games second game and how much I enjoy ModNation and how much I enjoy Hong Kong cinema it was a perfect fit.

They were showing it off like crazy for gameplay too. I wonder what happened, the stuff they showed off looked great.

Godamnit.

Hopefully this means a more polished game when it comes out, though I'm disappointed that it's been delayed. From everything shown so far, this looks to be breathing new life (via Hong Kong) into the sandbox genre, especially since you play as a cop.

I haven't been this disappointed since that time I walked into Ace Hardware and they told me they couldn't sell me any more spray paint.

This picture reminds me of Uncharted so much.

but does it not seems its gonna become 2009 chirstmas time all over again with hardly any games coming out expect for FPS

I knew this was coming out next year already, most games come out next year nowadays when they say it is coming this year.

Glad they push this back, because I was assuming it was send to die (with barely zero marketing, announcement came out of nowhere, release date so close to annoucement etc).

I really hope this game turn out good and became a sleeper. It's not often we see an open world game take place in a city outside of a Western country.

I don't even know why Activision bothers to set release dates for Fall. We already know by this point that Fall is Call of Duty and Guitar Hero time for them

I secretly hope this is delayed into twenty-infinity, simply because True Crime is probably one of the dumbest videogame franchises ever conceived. Not to mention, why the hell would they even bother resurrecting it?
