Though we usually elect to enjoy Puzzle Quest 2 during life's natural intermissions -- red lights, bathroom visits, literal intermissions between two acts of a lengthy musical -- we suppose having it on our home computer would be equally convenient. (We spend a lot of time on computers, you know.) We'll all get our chance to grab the game's PC iteration when it lands on Steam next Thursday, August 12.
The puzzle-RPG will be available for the (relatively) bargain price of $19.99 -- but if you'd like to do a bit of damage to that cost, you can save 10 percent by pre-ordering the game on Steam.

I wonder if they added UFOs in this one as well?

I still have to finish the XBLA version. Long game is long.

@Petebot330 It's a fun game but after awhile it starts getting very mechanical. Once your character has the right set of spells it's a matter of going through the motions to beat your enemies, which is probably where it starts getting very drawn out.

Oh, HELL NO!! My productivity would grind to a halt as my PQ2 character leveled way up.

I was puzzled as to why this game wasn't originally released on PC.

Spending 33% more than the XBLA version is a bargain now?

Honestly, this game is weak sauce. The original Puzzle Quest seems to have been more luck than anything else. Galactrix was just awful, and PQ2 has sooo many design and gameplay issues. I just don't find it to be nearly as fun or engaging as the original.

If you've been waiting for a PC version, I would say skip it and play something else. I'm about 4 odd hours into the XBLA version, and haven't been very impressed. It still lacks the humor and polish of the first one. Weapons and equipment are fine, but those seem to have replaced the mount system, and aren't nearly as fun or interesting as capturing new mounts.
Also, so far I've only picked up one NPC ally, and there's no interaction at all once you've accomplished their quest. You get one spell, no bonuses, and no further dialogue with them. Picking up your new allies, and doing their side quests were two of the best things about PQ1.
It's like they don't understand what made the first one so much fun.

Save 10% aka save $2. I don't know what financial position people are in but whatever, a saving is a saving and if you are going to get the game as soon as it comes out you might as well save $2, but if you are unsure I doubt you would jump at the chance to save two dollars.
