@FaerieTael

Yeah no joke. Even though I am not interested in either DC Universe Online or FFXIV Online (because i don't like either game), i have been dying for an MMO on the ps3. So... I hope that DCUO and FFXIV do great on the ps3 with lots of subscriptions simply because it will open the flood gates and we will eventually get some great MMOs.

EQ would be fun, man, i used to love the punishment of EQ1 back in the day. And by back in the day I mean i played it before there were expansion packs...

I can't imagine a game which you could play on a laptop but not a powerful PC.

It wouldn't surprise me if there have been games that run better on laptops then on a powerful PC. Seems unlikely but it seems like one of those "so ridiculous it's true" kind of thing. Maybe it depends on the operating system and architecture.

Ehh, there's games that would run on a Macbook and not a "powerful PC" (in the general sense of the term PC, ie, not a hackintosh)... But they're Mac games, so that's probably why you've never heard of them.

There are no games exclusive to Mac but not available on PC.

Are those really in-game screen shots? They look like concept art. If they are in-game, I think the art style looks awesome. We'll see.

@Jerkface Killah Yeah, the art style definitely looks very nice.

And the architectural environments look a bit similar to Fable. I like it.

Those are not in-game screenshots... Reading the source link states that the game's not even in alpha yet and that there are no in-game shots. At least that's what I got out of it

I know nothing of EverQuest but those just look like backdrops to me.

The first one of the swamp is, but the second one of Freeport is not, although there is an in-game screenshot of the same place, viewable at the source link.

1st image (swampy place) looks like a screen shot, but the second has to be concept art. Look at the little guy by the gate, I doubt that's in game.

Having played Everquest from launch week (which had more bugs then most betas) and falling in love with it, then being horribly disappointed with EQ2. I still have hope for this game and hope that SOE can deliver in there promise that it will be more like EQ.

I'm on the same boat (sans playing at release. I played after first expansion). I got in EQ2 beta and didn't really like it as much as EQ. But I still bought it and played it on and off for years. I''m really looking forward to this.

Different but similar boat. Played EQ starting in early Luclin, but switched to EQ2 at its launch and been loving it ever since... and also looking forward to this.

Amen. Hell, if some real screens and gameplay are convincing enough, I'd definitely give it a shot. Don't mean to bag on others, but EQ Pre-Luclin and Post-Luclin are wayyyyy different. Now if they can get epic fights like back like pre-Velious... hell post-Velious.

I'd be more hyped about this than TOR or FFXIV

It will be...interesting to see if this doesn't try and fail emulating its more successful (unnamed) competitor.

That must be concept art. I think this is the image you want:

Not to burst everyone's bubble but this game will never happen. Every one of SoE's MMOs is failing, their playerbase is righteously disgruntled for being shat on by the developers, and they're already working on DC Universe Online (which will probably also fail). I'd love to see a throwback to how MMORPGs used to be (you know.. when they were good and required some talent) but a company that is already hemorrhaging money because of EQ1, EQ2, the soon to be defunct SWO, and EvanQguard3 isn't going to crank out yet another EQ game.

Also, everyone who's chipping out "Please make this for the PS3." Why would they do that? There has been one true MMORPG on the console and that's FFXI (and the upcomming FFXIV but that's another big mess in its own right). Do you know what that is? In the western world there is no market for it. Saying slap it on the PS3 or 360 is effectively ensuring failure because then you have a game that is going to appeal to no one. PC MMORPG players are going to get stuck with a UI and features that have to be super simplified down so it's usable with a game controller and the console MMORPG players (Which will be FFXI/XIV players) are going to have no interest.

Again, I'd love to see a game that bares some semblance to EQ1, but it'll never be made.

Amen Sylveria, I'm from Everquest 2 and I couldn't agree more with you on the statement about how the dev's have shat on us. They disregarded the player base they had in the hopes to attract more /facerolling raiders from WoW. They've watered down the portion of what made the EQ line so great, the journey. Everything is geared towards instant gratification for the WoWtards now. I'm a 5.5 year veteran of EQ2 and dont believe that SOE should take advice on changing the mechanics of the EQ games from anyone who has had any less than 3 years of experience in the games (and I'm not talking about 1 year of playing and 2 years of bonus days on your station account for buying expansion packs either). What differentiated EQ's combat mechanic from other mmo's had a lot to do with the calculations that went into group synergy and the balance of player and weapon stats and bonuses. A play who knew their stuff a few years ago could out parse a player with better gear and spells if they understood the benefit of maximizing their auto-attack timing to fall in between combat art casting times. That's all gone now. With the new stat system you no longer have to wonder if you should add agility to boost avoidance and other likewise bonuses based on your class versus adding strength to increase the average auto-attack base damage per hit. Now every class is single stat based and draws all it's combat mechanic bonuses from that one stat....GIVE US BACK OUR GAME....stop trying to please the WoWtards....you arent going to get their subs....you're only losing ours.

I dont honestly know where the rumors are coming from and have no of really validating them...but it seems to be popular belief in the Antonia Bayle serve in EQ2 that EQ:Next will be ported to the PS3 console. With that said, I have some skepticism about SOE's claim to scalability. I've heard companies say that before and what that really means is "We dont really care about the people with high end machines or giving them extra eye candy....we're just going to make it run mediocre on anything from a scientific calculator up." I hope to see some screen shots that are more than just concept art (in ultra high quality settings) in the near future, show us what you got SOE, your fans demand it!
