Is anyone else getting tired of Ben Gilbert trying too hard to be funny? It seems as though he is outright copying Griffin's "style," especially when he is given the duty of writing Griffin's posts.

@lparAgonl I am trying to keep consistent with Griffin's "style" for these Japanese Hardware posts. I'd be happy to write them a more personal way, should people prefer that. That said, I ate a really delicious apricot rugelach this morning.

Here's my question about PS3 sales in Japan, are they just yellow light of deathing the damn things or are they buying more than one? Yes the system is selling well but its doing impossible growth rate sales, especially after several years of increasing sales. I know why it beats the Xbox 360, because Japan actually hates US products, but I just don't think the numbers of actual used units are actually as stated by these numbers, there just isn't that much call for these things even under the most optimum sales conditions.

According to VGchartz.com, there have only been 55.4 million PS3s sold in Japan.

In Japan, there are over 127,430,000 people. So lots of people still don't have PS3s.

Japan doesn't hate US products. They hate US products with high rates of breaking down.

I don't know why you would consider those sales impossible. There is only around 6 million PS3 sales in Japan. It isn't like everyone in that country just bought a PS3 and Wii when they were released.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? Yes they don't buy a 360 in part to the failure rates but they don't buy almost any foreign products if it has a Japanese competitor. This is just how Japan works which is perfectly fine but i hate when people say that the Xbox 360 doesn't sell well over there because of "failure rates" or "lack of Japanese games"(which is true now but initially MS had a good amount of quality titles). The main reason the 360 doesn't sell there is it isn't Japanese. To prove this i will provide the link below. How many American actually lets just widen that to non-Japanese company's do you see doing well in Japan?

It's a double boost this week. White PS3 model (which is more fitting with Japanese color scheme. Look at Wii), and adaptation of popular anime game

The only real question is why Basara didn't help Wii, where it also is...

PS3 YLOD is less than half a percent. RROD is over 60%, that is why they don't buy the Xbox. It's a laughing stock everywhere but it's home turf where gamers are blind.

The "statistic" (if you want to call a newspaper SURVEY "statistic") that said about 60% on X360 also said that PS3 FAILURE RATE was OVER 10%.

So if you magicaly downscale YOLD rate to 0,5% (so dividing it by 20) also downscale X360 failure rate to 3%.

3% is more or less typical failure rate in electronics.

@GeorgePunk Your going to believe a newspaper? those guys spin things to make them more interesting/shocking to lure you to buy the paper.. and surveys are hardly going to get an accurate picture without asking everybody, and them giving an accurate answer.. any fanboy can say they've been through 10 of a console beacause they keep breaking...

Presumably a typo, it's 5.4 million. And lots of people don't have Wiis (which have only sold 10.6 million)... or even DSs (30.9 million).

"I don't care about the article, I just want to know what those awesome pastry things are!"

If you cared about the article you could read it and it would say "We're speaking, of course, about the indomitable apricot rugelach..."

But since you don't care, I don't think there is a chance for you to know what those pastries are :( Sorry

@PilzE wants your mint spaghetti

# Pastry
# 2 sticks (1/2 pound) unsalted butter, softened
# 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
# 2 cups all-purpose flour
# 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
# 1/8 teaspoon salt
#
# Filling
# 1 cup apricot jam, melted
# 3/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped
# 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
# 1 teaspoon cinnamon
# Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Preparation Time: 25 minutes plus chilling

Baking Time: 25 minutes per batch

Makes 5 dozen

In a large bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese. Beat in the flour, sugar and salt until blended. Divide the dough into thirds. Wrap and refrigerate for 45 minutes.

On a floured surface, roll out a piece of dough to a 14 x 8-inch rectangle. Brush 1/3 cup of the jam on top. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup walnuts.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle a third on top of the walnuts. Roll up from a long side to form a log. Repeat to make 3 logs. Place the logs seam down on a cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 1/2 hour.

Preheat the oven to 350F. On a cutting board, cut each log into 1-inch pieces. Place the rugelach seam down on greased cookie sheets. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden. Transfer to racks to cool completely.

Spoon some confectioners’ sugar into a sieve and dust over the cooled rugelach
