Kmart holding inventory clearance sale; Wii, 360, PSP all discounted

From August 8 through August 14, Kmart is offering lowered -- and some dramatically lowered -- pricing on Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 (the older, less svelte models) and Sony PSP. As this is an inventory clearance sale, we're not looking at discounts on PSP Gos and brand new black Wiis, so much as the original Wii with Wii Sports going for $149.99 (normally $200) and PSP "Entertainment Packs" (think Hannah Montana's purple PSP) going for $129.99 (normally $200).

Remaining inventories of Xbox 360 Arcade systems will be discounted as low as $129.99 (normally $150), and 120GB Elite models will drop to $199.99 (normally $250). If you can find an FFXIII, Splinter Cell: Conviction, or Modern Warfare 2 "Super Elite" bundle (read: 250GB HDD), they'll be going for $279.99 (normally $350). We'd like to apologize in advance to all the Kmart employees about to receive a flood of customer service calls.

I only have 1 Xbox. Guess I need to be like the rest and go out and buy an upgraded one just for upgrade's sake.

It's funny but I always see Xbox users buying multiple Xboxes (even pre Xbox 360S), but PS3 users only seemed to do it for the slim. Where does this mentality come from anyway? I own both, older models too, and I never had the urge to buy a new console.

An arcade is cheap enough that it allows you to play Xbox in multiple rooms of your home since the Harddrive is pretty easily removed from any 360. That'd be the justification i'd have.

And now we come down to today's "Biggest Douche" award.

The 360's failure rate has dropped dramatically since the release of the new 360. For the PS3 having no games, you're wrong.

IDK it's like every time a new model is announced, everyone just starts saving up and trading in to get the new model....which does the exact same thing.

I think people just like getting new stuff. I guess they do it with the xbox more often since it tends to be a bit cheaper.

And I wouldn't be surprised if people are buying a second xbox as a "spare." I for one am thinking about picking up the new one because my current one is out of warranty and I've replaced it fives times previously.

and no PS3 sales. thanks a lot. guess i'll never be able to afford a PS3

@Paradox596 Oh lord, you too? What a hell hole that place is. I worked there in my twenties, twice, and the experience blew goats both times. The second time they had gotten really, REALLY corporate, stretching employees across several departments and hiring managers who were frighteningly tyrannical. Two years later, the CEO was thrown out the door and charged with defrauding the place. Ah, schadenfreude, my favorite German word!

Any call center ever is the worst.

I worked helpdesk for a junior college for about a year and a half. One of the professors actually got pissed at me for instructing him to open up Internet Explorer (the "approved" browser on campus) claiming that since he already had the address he needed to go to, "why on earth would [he] need to explore the internet??"

Obviously.

I would try to find an excuse to buy an Elite, but my Pro model is charmingly well-working.

@Shadowbender I know. I have the Lego Indiana Jones bundled 60gb xbox. And now that the HD is at 5gb free space, those newer models are looking so tempting. And in the back of my head, I tell myself, well if I upgrade to a new xbox, I can give my old one to a friend. Thus strengthening the friendship.

I have the old "Pro" with 20 GB HD. If all you're looking for is more space, why not buy another hard drive instead of a whole new system?

@Themoreyouknow It's cause the new new model models have a newer chip, bigger hdd, and wifi. The newer models looks dead sexy too. Although, I don't think I'll be upgrading any time soon, because of money woes. These types of deals bring out the hoarder tendencies in me. :(

I almost with I didn't have one of each system on sale. Bargains on console hardware are nice. But my black Wii is nicer...

Maybe it's time for me to finally get a PSP if the Ratchet and Clank Entertainment Pack is included in that sale (or even better, the Peace Walker EP but that's only wishful thinking). I never planned on getting a 360 but $200 for an Elite is mighty tempting...

I keep thinking the same thing about these clearance 360's, but the hardware's just not up to par. The newer ones have less of a chance of dying on you.

I got a 360 Arcade for $130+$50GC from Target. Suck on that Kmart!

@BigD145 One of 'em seems to be a PSP-3000 with Gran Tourismo, for a very reasonable $129.99. If I had the disposable income, I'd dispose of it for that package. I don't think those are hackable, though.

@MNeko That's the issue at hand for me. I need to be able to play PSone games without buying what I already own.

i would like a 120gig 360 now that its affordable. but its still too much considering im interested in just fable, deathspank, deathsmiles, and limbo.

I worked at a Big K with a guy named Al. South Park was really popular at the time. Draw your own conclusions.
